  • Thanks very much,bod1467.

Have already made a start and done the first one (MBAM) which discovered 44 things which have now been removed. No idea what they were though! As you can see, I'm not very technologically-savvy:o

So, one final question, which is probably obvious, but what did you mean by 'reset the browser' please? And do I wait to do that after completing all the other recommendations or can I do it any time? Sorry to be so inept.

Click on my link to find out.
  • Click on my link to find out.

I did click on it but got the error message:

    Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

That's why I asked again for how to do it!

Microsoft link is down at the moment, but have you run Adwcleaner and JRT first ?

I personally would download and use another browser and see if that helps. Google Chrome is widely regarded as a bit faster and has less overhead than IE11.

    Please..... don't.
  • Thanks for all the really useful advice. I was a bit scared to ask for help, I don't venture far from DFW boards as a rule. Being in techie territory was well out of my comfort-zone so thanks for being so patient and friendly.

I'm still working through the fixes you've suggested and even after only deleting a lot of stuff after running the MBAM scan it seems things are running a bit faster already. Am still reading up about the other recommendations, managed to access the browser-reset info on the Microsoft site eventually but haven't done that bit yet. I Googled 'long-running script' and there's loads of conflicting advice on there and lots of posters who have had the same problem I have. I think I'd be best following the advice you guys have given me! Thanks again:beer:

NiftyDigits, did you mean don't download and use another browser, or just don't download Google Chrome? I was wondering about Firefox, it seems very popular. I've only ever used IE in its various reincarnations but seem to have had some problem or another with all of them!
