    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Scotsmum that is so sad you are right. Also saddened to read of an 85 year old man who lost control of his car in London and killed a baby and a young mum. So much sadness around.

    banked another NSD today. Yesterday only paid for unavoidable petrol, but successfully avoided the shops. Tomorrow or maybe WEdnesday will pick up the roast and some more veg, all else should be in place!

  • Well, today was the big Christmas shop day. £90 odd pounds in @ldi and £60 in tesc@. Only got fresh bread to buy on Christmas eve and then I'll have a small balance in the budget for a top up shop before the New Year.

    I'll be very happy if I end close to the budget and hopefully with good fridge and freezer stocks to take into January. Looking forward to another MSE year!

    Merry Christmas everyone :)

    They have a limited range in A*di at only 49p atm ;)

    ...have decided to use any leftover money from grocery budget to build a "bulk buy" pot for when I see good offers, particularly at the butchers

    That's exactly how I run things - it does make like easier :rotfl:

    Hi everybody,

    Another spend to report, hopefully I've got everything I need to see me beyond the 26th (at least). Spent $60.37 bringing my total for the month so far to:-

    $ 168.00 /$300.00
  • Tried to come on here yesterday to update but the website was being silly so here are yesterday's spends, I went to lots of different shops including Butchers, total spends were £43.71

    I am over budget and have spends today but I am not too concerned as today is the last day and I have been buying food to cover Christmas Eve onwards so although it's coming out of the Dec budget it will, hopefully, reduce my first weeks spend from the January budget *fingers crossed!

    Another shop today, not having a car is pain when trying to do a "big shop", and then a very small one Weds from the new budget.

    I popped into my local butchers yesterday and had a lovely long chat. He was very friendly and helpful and told me all about where the meat is sourced - all local except bacon and ham. Funnily enough one of the farmers who provides the meat popped in so I got the info from the horses mouth so to speak. Left with some bacon, needed, and a shin bone from a cow to make beef stock with (I've always wanted to try making beef stock) and a determination to do my meat shopping from the butchers next year and finally try Jamie's Brisket roast recipe ^_^

    I'll be back later to declare :)
