    quick question

I have about £130.00 on a As*a card which I have been saving all year for my Christmas shopping...

Would you add this into your budget or would you keep it separate and just spend it....

    Thanks

I would count it in my budget, but put £130 in cash in a pot and only count that if I spent it on normal food (iyswim).

That way the 'extra' £130 can be spent on christmas 'treats' such as coffee or a meal out without me feeing guilty. This is what I do if I have a money off coupon or telco voucher.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

  • I'm with your OH on that one - I am not as fan of pasta. Especially the dried non-egg stuff - I might as well eat cardboard and while it is filling, it offers little in the way of nutrition.

But I know what you mean about your OH being away - when mine is away we eat a lot more frugally. Mainly because me and the DDs are happy with a veggie meal, DH doesn't consider it to be a meal at all if it doesn't have meat.

I buy proper pasta (fresh if it's on offer)if we're both eating it but he just pushes it around his plate digging out anything that I've added and complains half an hour later that he's hungry and goes raiding the fridge:eek:. He pretty much insists on meat or fish every day, although I tend to make lots of casseroles where I can use less meat and bulk it out with veg etc. I can just about get away with that although he occasionally complains and says 'there's not much meat in here is there?

Hee hee, I reckon your OH and mine are cut from the same cloth. :rotfl:

I will have to work out on bulking out casseroles with veggies but I suspect I will get the same complaints that you do. Thing is, the casserole tastes pretty much the same with less meat, so there's not really anything to complain about. :)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
Logging my biggest spend in days, £11.34 in Tesco tonight. It would have been £17.40 but I had £4.15 in coupons to take off (the self service machine loved those of course, after I scanned 1 it bleeped at me to get store authorisation from the till staff, who obviously enjoyed having to override 8 coupons whilst busy) hee hee. I also had £1.91 from tips today. Anyway popped from working all weekend so staggering off to chill with my family for the last hour before little man goes to bed.
    night all.

On Friday I spent £35 in Morrisons and £95 on a meat delivery (shouldn't have to buy any more meat till end of January), so up to £265/350 now.

Not sure if I will be able to keep to my budget, because I have 2 more weekly shops to do this month, and there will be more fancy food to buy, but already all Christmas drinks bought, and have a well stocked pantry.
