Spent £4.50 this morning on some veg.

2 Mahoosive parsnips, a leek, 2kg of oranges and a ginormous cauliflower.

Have turned 1 of the parsnips into some parsnip fries, and the 2nd one will be used for spicy parsnip soup if I can find a decent recipe.

Did you find a recipe? If it's not too late there is this recipe here - it's for curried parsnip soup.

Having declared my last NSD of November, I realised that I had a MrT voucher for £1.50 that expired today. So I went to my local MrT Express and found a few YS items, potatoes and spring onions, total 64p. The nearest I could get to arrive at £1.50 was a packet of leeks, full price but I could use them , for 84p. Grand total £1.48. The ignorant teenager at the till said he could not accept the voucher because it had to come to £1.50 or over. So I made an executive decision not to argue with young Mr Thicko and got a packet of YS brown rolls, 10p. Total spent 8p.

Now, I need your verdict, OS friends. What should I do? These are my options:

    1. Undeclare the NSD and fail the 10/10 challenge.

    2. Declare the 8p spend as December spend as I had already "closed" the November budget, so to speak.

    3. Ignore it, as I have often done a Reverbe and picked up coins which I haven't bothered to declare as positives in my daily budget.

    4. Ignore it because I spent to save and considering that 8p bought me: 2kg potatoes, 2 large leeks, 1 bunch spring onions and a pack of 8 wholemeal rolls, I should just consider myself lucky and stop obsessing.

I look forward to reading your opinions on this one!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I'd push it into December. I did the same. I found £19 of mince for £4.55 the day before my month ended. As I planned to eat the mince in December (and did) I don't see it as dishonest. When a fantastic bargain presents itself it seems silly to save pence but spend pounds.

Thanks Solstice, I haven't found a recipe so I'll be taking a look at that one :)

I would count it as part of the December GC. The reason being that you have already 'finished' the November one.
Its not like you aren't counting it, you just aren't counting it in for November.

Bit of a moral dilemma there my friend :)

I think you should count the 8p in December and do a 'penance' of an extra NSD in December for forgetting it until the last day

BTW was glad to help with the budgety thing.

Well I'm here at last and have carried over £ 27.04 from November and bunged it in my Bulk Buy. I also have £ 51 on a savings card from Morry's so must be careful I don't go doolally and go on a spending spree :rotfl:

Hope you all have a marvellous Monday

White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit!

Thank you, wise friends! I accept your verdict and count the 8p as December spend. I also accept Lynnejk's suggestion of an extra day of NSDs, as penance LOL but also to push myself a little. Will adjust my sig accordingly.

December will be a difficult month, not only for Christmas but also because at some point we will have to go and meet DD, who is not coming home to celebrate with us (long and upsetting story that I shall spare you). This will mean a couple of days in a hotel and some extra spending, which is coming from our common family fund, but still an extra spend, even if necessary.

    Have a good day.

I won't be counting Xmas week though, as I'm hoping to have put a bit of money aside to have a bit of a blow out. Fingers tightly crossed!

First spend of December budget yesterday and spent £54.50 (rounded) but this included some food for Christmas.

Managed to get quite a bit of veg using the £5 voucher for Morries yesterday, including some stew veg which I'm going to prep and then freeze for use later in the month and probably January as well.

Shouldn't need to buy anything extra this week as will be away for a long weekend which will be paid for from the holiday budget!

    Denise
