Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Yes - one poster on here has been a current account customer for 20 years with Yorkshire bank.
Under the original November terms he was ineligible, then under the terms available until 28 Feb he opened 10+ accounts (and got 10 £150s). But existing long term current account customers paying in over £1k a month are now ineligible again under the new terms if they pay in more than £1k even if they haven't got a £150 under the revised terms up to 28 Feb.
I've just re-contacted the Yorkshire Bank and was initially told the offer was finished. When I advised it was still advertised on your website they then checked and said, oh yes it is. I then asked if I was ineligible for the switch incentive and was told I was eligible. I told them to recheck as I'd been given the opposite information last week. So after checking, I was then told yes you are eligible.
I therefore decided to go ahead with the switch, and was told as I hadn't had the incentive previously, I was eligible and I could simply switch into my existing Direct Account. So fingers crossed this will work, as reading Yorkshires full T&Cs from its link, it doesn't state in my case I'm ineligible.0 -

You have to laugh at this - still on their website and the first thing you see on the homepage - but apparently no longer available.

I did the Switch recently, I had a very old Cahoot account that was't doing anything.
Got to say the online banking system is dreadful - the security setup system is ridiculous - one of the questions is 'favourite film'..but it won't accept my answer as less than 6 letters. Ditto for other stuff - I nearly gave up too be honest, as it kept rejecting my answers..ie not enough numbers, too short etc etc..!!!!!!!!!
Finally sorted it out, but registering really felt like banging my head against a brickwall..0 -

Yorkshire Boy actually did 11. I managed 13 but I think so many searches is having a knock-on effect as a couple of banks did a review of my accounts and issued me with account closure letters for reasons such as "unacceptable credit score"/"unrealistic level of applications". Presumably their monthly feed from the CRAs are catching up.

The answer is you are eligible if you have or open a YB/CB account and haven't received the £150 incentive for switching since 17th November.
The terms had an original restriction that meant if you had any YB/CB account that had £1000 per month going into it for 6 months then you weren't eligible. They then amended the terms to say you are eligible if you open a new account and switch to that. The new offer (since 9th March) has no restrictions other than the fact you now can't have received the offer before.0 -
Has anyone had any experience of closing a Clydesdale Bank account? Obviously after all the incentives come through I will be looking to close several accounts but I was told over the phone it was only possible to close in branch. I've got several Yorkshire branches near me but no Clydesdale.
Anyone know if it's possible to close in writing?0 -

See section 17.1 of their terms
17.1 You may close an account (or all accounts you have with us) at any time by writing to us.

Alternatively ask in your local Yorkshire branch - they are effectively the same bank with the same systems so maybe they can assist with the paerwork.
At the London branch the two operate in parallel - there are 3 cashiers desks (one yorkshire two clydesdale) but the Clydesdale cashier was able to assist me even though I am pure Yorkshire.0 -

Wow - that's scary. I've opened a LOT of accounts and my Experian credit score has dropped from 999 (excellent) to 713 (poor). No late or missed payments, etc though
Not worried about being refused future credit facilities as won't be doing/needing this, until score picks up in due course
Had I known there may be such knock-on effects, I'd have been more measured in my applications.
Should I be worried of receiving similar closure letters, and after what time can it be safely assumed I'm safe?0 -

Ok, that is very very scary. Looks like you need to do some trimming down.
I never got round to the co-op, so i'm just transferring one of my YB to them.0 -

Surprised to hear this - I only assume they would close if you had CIFAS issues etc rather than closing accounts after opening just because you had opened too many other accounts.
I am aware that some of the credit reference agencies can take a while to update - I had an account with one bank that appeared as a new account search 2 months after I had switched it (and closed it). and 3 months after opening.
I am done now pretty much - can't be bothered with the co-op as it offers no reason to hold an account bar the incentive. At least the others offer decent interest or regular savers.
PS Would you care to name the banks - are they for example in the same group? Seems Lloyds/HBOS are quite active on this front?0
