Thank u guys, I will obtain doctor letters and call job centre and see what they say.
If any more info arrises please tell me thank u0 -
Push harder for SSP (link in post 9) as we are not convinced you aren't eligible. JSA is for people who don't have a job - you have a job, but one you can't do at the moment so sick pay is the correct route. On the plus side I think it is slightly more money, and you won't get the job centre hassle! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Many call centres are also contact centres, meaning they handle emails and/or online contact forms, so it may be worth finding out if this is the case.
In my call centre days I got an ear infection and also suffered severe tinnitus which effectively rendered me deaf for a couple of months, but was able to work emails.0 -
If the OP has only ever worked for four weeks, they may have no entitlement to SSP.HelpingHugger wrote: »I stopped my jsa claim and decided to work.
I am unclear what this means OP. Work isn't an alternative decision to claiming benefits.
But I would agree with others here. Your GP cannot say that you have anything wrong with you. Neither can the specialist. Not until there is a formal diagnosis. I am certainly not suggesting that you are malingering, but unfortunately people do. So I wouldn't suggest resigning unless you are able to demonstrate that your illness is such that you are unable to work - or at least unable to work in this employment.0 -
What does your hospital consultant say? To be honest I remember being accelerated when I said I was working for appointments and treatment, because I'd already lost enough jobs due to it which made them speed up, so jeez it did come in handy, everyone is different so speak to the hospital as I remember being asked about work (though my GP was a tool over tinnitus! while you wouldn't believe the hospital involved!) and went to support in addition, wasted months! can't imagine you wouldn't be able to not appeal, can you use holiday to try and recover short term or ultimately find another job - just worry depression kicks in and that's worse then no money! when you don't need the stress as ENT can regretably become linked to the mind x0

Doctor has to send me to a ENT to have a camera down my throat. He is willing to provide me a sick note and letter. My job is based on answering calls and that is it. I need a voice in order to achieve this job on a daily basis, my voice is totally nearly gone, as this issue has been going on for over 3 months, Anything i eat i throw up, GP stated this problem is for the ENT to solve. As a internal camera needs to be inserted into my throat.
Because this job is a temp job my contract states i cant claim SSP its written and i have been informed this. SSP is out the question.
Like some one stated here (pmlindyloo):
If my manager says well you cant continue your job because of your voice and this job requires a working voice. And i am told to leave my job based on ill health of temporary/short term illness And i have a doctors letter and sick note to prove it, Will claiming esa for like 2 to 3 months be allowed? Until i get better for claiming jsa?
And then IF its not a serious illness that will effect me during the long run i.e (if its a short term illness for like 2 to 3 months). As the ENT will decided what is wrong with me i.e short term illness am i still able to claim ESA for 2 to 3 months and then once recovered, do I call JSA and tell them i am better and go back on jsa? Will that not impose a sanction? Or will i need to wait for the ESA people to check me and then go on JSA? Or when i feel better just leave esa and go on jsa?
It seems like some people got ENT mixed with mind issues or stress. I have a physical problem with my throat, i cant eat it causes me to be vomit, my throat feels like there is a bump, i am constantly clearing my throat. I cant speak as my voice has nearly gone. ENT stands for (EAR, NOSE AND THROAT) specialist.
Thank you for all your help guys
really i am thankful0 -
Your employer CANNOT decide whether you get SSP. The law determines that. You either qualify for it, or you do not. If you qualify the employer cannot decide otherwise. And it has nothing to do with whether it is a temporary contract or not. If you do not qualify then there are likely to be other alternatives - have you actually asked a benefits advisor?
Nobody has confused what you say is wrong with you. You are describing symptoms which prevent you from attending work. As such you have been issued with a fit note telling you not to attend work. Without a diagnosis the doctor cannot tell you that you are unable to return to this job. What you are asking for is the doctors "permission" to resign. The doctor can't give you that permission - their job here is to tell you whether you are fit enough to attend work or not, not tell you to resign. If the employer dismisses you for being sick, that is a different matter.0 -
Sorry not being rude, but the last post added a lot of info which i never stated, Doctor told me to resign ky manager said you will have to leave if my voice stays like this over another week. Which it has and not recovered. I cant get SSP because MY CONTRACT STATES IT.
All i require is some advice, if i claim esa for a few weeks or a months am ill, and then jump back on jsa when am better, can i do this without a sanction? Or will i have to wait for esa to check me?0 -
Esa will be awarded but you will have to wait to be assessed, you will have to supply fit notes continually right through the claim. I know my GP is reluctant to issue fit notes for any longer than 3 months. I think the route you need to go down is your employer to sack you, with regards to sanction if you leave employment voluntarily you will be sanctioned for jsa, but esa would be the route to go.0

So can i not claim esa till my recovery or until the ENT doctor resolves the problem with my throat? And then sign back on jsa? So if i claim esa DO I HAVE TO WAIT for them to check me or can i stop my ESA claim myself after i recover or when the ENT doctor fixes my problem, can i call esa myself and say am better and join esa and look for work again?
Is that possible?0
