Wi Fi Smart TV

Before everyone put me off, the model I suggested does have an ethernet port, so I guess a wired connection is possible.
My laptop works fine in the bedroom. Is this an indication that the wi-fi is OK? Or is the TV more demanding of bandwidth?
I have Virgin fibre optic, so 50 Gb is possible, but it's the bit from the router to the TV that's key, I presume.Je suis sabot...0 -
I think that is prob right but my TV has not slot for ethernet but got some on router, deciding now which package to change to ie best value0

If your router is not convenient and you need to connect by ethernet then buy some home plugs.0 -

Have you actually tried it with iPlayer or similar ?0 -
Well, I bought it today and it works fine, in fact better than Virgin's Tivo catchup. We needed a new TV anyway, so worth the bit extra to free up the big TV for football while the wife watches soap operas she has missed.
Thanks to all for their help and advice.Je suis sabot...0 -

Regardless of how good the wi-fi reception is, streaming is always far better and reliable when delivered by a wired (ethernet) connection.
The OP may find wi-fi is acceptable in that bedroom, he may not.
Indeed it is, however wifi is "great" enough for a number of people, myself included.0 -
We have Samsung smart TV connected to a Sky+ box. The former is wifi, the latter is wired. I haven't noticed any buffering watching either.0

I am surprised how well it works. Haven't encountered any buffering issues at all. I do have very good broadband and the Virgin router is obviously up to the job. I am calculating the cost of getting a smart TV for the lounge against the Virgin TV package (M) that we have at the moment. We don't really watch anything that isn't available on Freeview. I don't think the Tivo box is particularly good or user-friendly.Je suis sabot...0

All you had to do was a speed test on your broadband connection.
If it's too slow, you'll always have buffering problems.
Within the house, you can improve the connection in all kinds of ways.0
