I'd also love to join you all if you'll have me

I'll be using my online saving account for my transfers, not convinced that I could keep my hand out of a jar of £1 coins for a whole year :D

A big warm welcome to both of you. Welcome oy the mad club :rotfl:

I have added you both to the spreadsheet. You will be able to see everyone's totals there once you request access via a google account.

Any questions, just ask and I'm sure someone will tell you.

Spreadsheet updated, we're nearly at 30% for December :D

  • Hi Mr CF May I join in this challenge even though I'm late? I have a jar all ready and will put £19 in later today to bring me up to date.
I tried a similar thing last year but had to raid my jar. I'm almost a year since becoming DF but have struggled to maintain total MSEness so I need to start small and build up in 2015. I love jars and pots so it will be fun adding to this one and seeing how everyone is getting on.

Good luck all and thanks for running the challenge. SL X.

Up to £73.64 at the moment, but it will slow down for the next 2 weeks, because I'm off work, and got so much Christmas prep to do, that I won't be out spending, and therefore getting change for the pot.

  • Now up to £19 in the pot and I've started my virtual sealed pot again on the side. That way I'm guranteed to have something saved for next year!

Just thinking how so many of us like our little savings pots etc. I wonder if it reminds us of how things used to be done. I know that my mum used to put money into different pots on the kitchen shelf to pay for things throughout the week, e.g. the insurance man who used to call, the window cleaner, the milkman, the paper boy, bus fares etc. etc. I can see the attraction of doing that though most things are done through the bank these days. Interesting though.

I have different savings accounts for different things: one for the wedding, one for the house deposit, one for an emergency fund (which includes car expenses), my virtual sealed pot that is for a treat / holiday spends and now my christmas pot for this challenge. I find it easier to have things separated like this rather than all lumped together because then I can see each target getting ever closer with each penny that's added.
