I don't have any where near enough losses to use signed for, less than 20 this year in total and over 10000 sales.
It's just that they are all coming at once!
Since Saturday: 2 in Paypal, and 3 in Ebay (although one mysteriously turned up today after I sent a rather stern message)
Different items, posted on different days. Just rotten luck!

It's going back to my love of conspiracy and co incidence again. I never get any damaged items, yet in 3 days I get two people, both of whom have had their item for more than 3 weeks- both claim the item just broke.

Different items, sent at different times and to different countries.

Likewise one day last week out of the first 10 names on my bulk proof of posting 7 were either Mary or Marie

I thought Signed for is tracked? I sent something signed for (my very first time as the item was expensive) and I got that barcode label. On checking on the RM website, I could see when exactly it was delivered and the signature could be seen. Isn't that tracked?
If not, what exactly is tracked?
Signed For is just that - signed for. It might be logged in to the system if you send it via a post office but it doesn't have to be. You can stick a Signed For sticker on and put it straight in a letter box. It (should!) gets scanned and signed for on delivery which then updates on the track and trace system.

True tracked mail is actually scanned and tracked at most of the points through RMs networks - delivery offices, mail centres, etc. The services that offer that are Special Delivery and for businesses, Royal Mail Tracked. The costs are higher for obvious reasons.

I send any item that goes for more than £12 signed second - extra £1.10. I may up that to over £15 as the figures Soolin presents certainly make economic sense :)

Have a look at the sticky postage thread, and work your own costs out.

Remember all those £1.10ps mount up- and also remember that in some areas signed for will never show online as signed- so you have basically thrown away your money.

If it isn't signed for you can claim the extra fee back from Royal Mail.

I used to have to use recorded for part of my work, and made quite a bit of money claiming back all the payments for the unsigned ones. It was very time consuming though and I'm not sure I could be bothered anymore .

    PPI Party Pooper
Result! Buyer closed the INR 'request' both for me and another seller as both parcels suddenly appeared!

Now dealing with another apparent INR, this customer won't confirm her name and address for some reason and is being difficult! Will ask her to open a case and see what happens. sigh.

Worth checking feedback they have left for others and checking with other sellers. No reason not to confirm their address.

As a buyer though I am not sure I would want to be accused of being too daft to know my own address, and certainly wouldn't bother responding to such a request, except to say that it was as per my PayPal address.

Or is the suggestion that seller is admitting that they may have mis directed it or been confused and just sent it to the wrong person?

I ask for a confirmation of address, with an explanation that several buyers have given me outdated addresses, so I need to be sure I have posted it to the correct location.
