This was for an item posted on the 4th 2nd class, request for a refund now open:

Message from buyer: it was for my niece who s gone back up country now so ended up buying her something else. This is not the only item I haven t had delivered its my second one this week but checked all my addresses and all correct... So don t know.

Messages like this make me suspicious. Contact other sellers who have left feedback and see if there is a pattern.

Ask for confirmation of their address. Don't take their word that it's correct. Then use the postcode checker to check it really is right.

Advise that in light of their comment that they are having issues with their mail, you will contact Royal mail to report the loss.

Good idea. To be honest i am suspicious of all INR, in all my years of buying - and I buy a lot - only one item did not reach me...
I feel despondent today as it's the 5th one since Friday... Feel like sending everything signed for but I know that would not make sense financially in the long run...

You don't have to refund for 8 days. Plenty of time to carry out your own investigating.

I'd respond and say you are looking into it. Put the willies up them. They have nothing to fear if the request us genuine.
  • This is terrible, as it's not only costing you money in Refunds....but your defects must be badly affected now.
I've noticed, most of my defects have come from INR's. :/
Other than sending things out via signed for, not sure what to suggest really.

Do you hand write or print labels ? I hand write mine on a box ( everything is sent boxed ) in big black felt - and time after time I have to reformat the post code as they are all joined up and in lower case ! That rubbish would automatically be printed if a label was printed and confuse the sorters. Touch wood ( and saying this I'm bound to get one ) I've not had a real INR - hope you get yours sorted :(

Print from pro manager, then sort out the capitals and typos and put it all in a doc enclosed wallet. Then stick my PPI label on which also has a return address and sellotape it to the parcel for good measure!

To be fair I have sold over 10000 items this year, so a few INR are not the end of the world, except when they all come at once!!

Thanks, you are right, she can wait a little. She has opened an INR on another seller as well today...

2 of the cases are in Paypal so won't affect my dashboard I assume.
Still on 0.69% - that's 5 out of 723 transactions - so can take a few more... If it goes much higher will phone Ebay to see if i can get the defects removed as hardly my fault if Royal Mail losing my parcels!

You and I know that of course Royal Mail don't lose anywhere near as many items as claimed - which is why Royal Mail have a special 'Ebay' tick box on their claims form - precisely because of the disproportionately high number of 'losses' via Ebay. It's shoplifting behind a keyboard essentially.

I too have never had an item not arrive that I can recall - sometimes I've needed to wait 3 months if from China etc but items always arrive. I'm amazed that some sellers will send really valuable items untracked - I'm honest, but I suspect more than a few Ebayers who see 'Tony' pop up on Ebay with a money back guarantee pretend items don't arrive.

I do have items not arriving here with me, and more worryingly I get at least one small parcel a month, sometimes more, delivered by van that is not for me.
