People who can see you are trying to reach for something but still stand in the way, then glare at you when you ask them to move!

My hate is the opposite of this. Why can't you just wait your turn to get the item instead of barging in front of another customer or pushing your arm rudely in their personal space?

This kind of customer really annoys me, especially when they are obese (bangs into me me) and chattin on their phone and do not apologise even though you looked at them expectantly to do so.

I like to think of the supermarket as a road and the customers as cars. The side streets are connected to the main roads and people should look where they are going when they come out. They wouldn't dare barge out in their car otherwise they'd be in an at-fault accident. Likewise, barging into others in order to get an item from the shelf/fridge that you could just wait 10 seconds for the other customer to finish selecting their purchase.

People are horrid and ruthless in supermarkets.

I'm with Graham Norton in finding people who leave baskets in a jumble annoying. How difficult is it to flip the handles properly and arrange the basket ready to for the next person to stack theirs?

Supermarkets should warn you about which regular items will get squeezed out for seasonal goods. If your favourite cereal / tins / biscuits / detergent disappear just when you're running low, it's annoying to have to wait.

Sales. Urgh. Can't be bothered with them.

    Screaming kids.

Shopping in a supermarket where you're clearly not the common demographic - e.g. trying to do a normal household shop in a shop geared up for students who just want pizza and beer.

Oh, by the way, anyone who can't reach the top shelf, I'm happy to help - I'll even rummage to get the best use-by date for you :-)

    About the reduction vultures.

My friends that work in supermarkets see the same faces. One customer fills a trolley full of stuff. They reckon a lot of stuff is binned. As one day she bought about 20 each of papayas, avocados and salad leaves bags. Cannot freeze them all go brown and mushy.

Only buy what you can use with 48 hours or freeze. Let other customers buy the stuff.

I'm struggling to think of anything that annoys me.

Maybe that's because I'm usually quite relaxed when I go in.

I notice in the reductions most bags of salad leaves are already brown and don't buy them. I would not be happy being served this.

I'm not surprised. What you did is much worse (not something to be proud of) and to be honest if I were with a friend or family member who did anything similar they would have had a piece of my mind & I would never want to be seen with them in public again.

How about saying "excuse me is it possible I can buy this".

How about the member of staff doing their job and not discussing some programme that was on TV the night before with a colleague?

Perhaps my expectations of the service industry are higher than yours.

I am in no way ashamed of encouraging someone to do their job.

TBH even if it meant losing my job, I would have smacked you in the mouth for that, just because they work in supermarkets, doesnt mean you can talk to them like !!!!

And if they had any sense of what they were meant to be doing I wouldn't have had to speak to them like that.

At least I wouldn't have descended to your level and resorted to violence.

You could have also got that by just politely asking to be served.

Possibly, but not sure why I would need to "ask" to be served at a checkout where the purpose of the operator was to deal with my shopping.
Which they were failing to do.
