I was pushing my trolley when a child came running round the corner of one aisle and smacked his face of the end of my trolley. Cut his lip and was crying - looked sore!

His mother came and apologised to me and told me that she hoped it had taught him a lesson.

Around here, the mother would be hurling abuse at you asking you look look where you are going.

Then you could say, my eyes don't let me see around corners.:D

My friends that work in supermarkets when they see a customer coming to their till with bags in their trolley 'Would like any more bags?' As this shows that they are not robotic. A few customers want an extra carrier if buying raw meat or cleaning products.

Ok back to the gripe I noticed today. Customers that seem to queue at one checkout as they follow the 'route' in the store where in fact if they actually walked further along, they would see 7+ tills that they could join.

To start: I haven't met a grumpy checkout person for ages. All have been pleasant and helpful.

    Hates:

    1) The hoards of regulars who wait in the reduced fruit and veg section, then grab everything in a matter of seconds, leaving the place looking as though it's bee attacked by locusts. They gather and work in packs, blocking anyone not in the gang from even looking. (Yesterday, a man had a deep trolley half filled with just bags of apples; similar a few weeks ago with tomatoes)

    2) People who ding or scratch my car on the carpark. It's old , but that's no excuse. In fact it's kept specially for supermarket trips so the better car stays intact.

    3) Feral children, without adult supervision, riding round on skates or skateboards.

    4) People who shop as extended family and block the aisles while they chat about non shopping agendas.

    5) Just the offer I want; all gone.

    6) Not being able to reach the top shelf, especially in freezer cabinets. (I'm 5' 2" and there is nevber a tall person about when I need one).

    7) Cupboard freezers with oodles of ice, that burns you as you reach in.

    8) People who park too close so you can't open your car door properly. (My car is a 5 door so has small doors).

    9) People who grab loads of the special offer, which is in short supply anyway.

10)People who open detergent to sniff it, then either don't reclose properly or just let it drip down the bottle which they put back,so it makes al the surrounding ones slippery.

    11) The child (about 6-7 years old), whose large mum, couldn't be bothered to walk back to him, so yelled at him to stop kicking the packs of biscuits and choose one. He told her to ********.

But I love getting a bargain. Yesterday a lovely bouquet of roses, carnations, lilies etc, normally £15 for £1.50.

My pet hate : Chav mums, shopping with a very young child, maybe about 2 or 3 years old, who is understandably bored. Child asks if she can have a pack of sweets. Chav Mum replies - well, shouts at 110 decibels - "No you can't fu**ing have any fu**ing sweets. If I buy you fu**ing sweets I won't have enough for fags. Now if you fu**ing ask again you're gonna get the biggest fu**ing slap of your life".

Dear God, my blood was boiling. I had to reign myself in from going over there and physically assaulting her. Poor kid. I did mention it to the security guard, and suggested he call social services in the hope they could trace her via CCTV. But realistically, what can one do in a situation like that ? Of course I couldn't intervene, otherwise I'd have been up for assault myself.

But that memory still haunts me :(
  • Cashiers hanging on to your card while the receipt prints! Just give me the card so I can put it back in my purse & get on.
Also, parents letting their kids push prams or trollies around. I'm disabled and fed up of being almost floored!
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
  • A couple more recently occurred.

1- person in front buying alchol cashier called for authorisation code supervisor looked down noticed I was buying alchol and walked off- why I would obviously need her to be called back to authorise me why not wait.

2/ Challange 25- pointless I've got me youngest daughter in trolley packed to bursting car keys in hand and paying via credit card- Seriously under 18- common sense please

Can I add people that let their brats touch food to my list of peeves.

I frequently see snotty children picking up baked goods while their stupid parents are ignoring them.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

People who cough and sneeze all over the food, without putting their hand over their mouths.

...and people who do put their hand over their mouth, but then use same said hand to handle the item I'm about to buy.

I try to avoid buying anything from the front of shelves reachable by a toddler, simply because of what's likely to be on their hands.
