  • People who don't take a few seconds to check the size of the banana bunches and simply grab the first bunch they see and tear off just one banana leaving a mass of single bananas behind.

People who stand for half an hour in front of the (for example) bacon display, picking up every single bloody pack before they find one that is good enough for them to purchase.

People arguing loudly with their family members at the checkouts.

People who cough and sneeze all over the food, without putting their hand over their mouths.

People who load their shopping onto the conveyor belt and who then !!!!!! off to find several forgotten items. They then moan when they come back and find that I've jumped their place in the queue with my 3 items! :D

People (mostly women) who go shopping with their kids, along with their friend and their kids and who then spend the whole time yelling at said kids, to stop them running around and playing.

People who go to the supermarket wearing pyjamas or onesies.

People who squeeze every loaf of bread and then don't buy any!

The woman (always a woman) who waits behind 3 or 4 in the Q then after getting her messages starts to look through first her handbag for 5 minutes to find her purse, takes out the money then looks through he handbag again for another purse where she starts to rummage and unfold various 5P 10P off vouchers which invariably turn out to be out of date.
They are then religiously refolded and replaced in the purse to reappear next time no doubt.......:mad:

True , you don't see many men with handbags..

People who ignore the "Checkout closed" signs. I feel sorry for the checkout assistants who repeatedly have to point this out, to then be tutted at.

one of my friends had her till closing sign as going home. There were 4 other tills each with a customer packing and another putting things on the belt.

As she was leaving the till, a man placed his basket and shouted 'OI You will serve me!' then grabbed my friend's wrist.

The security guard saw this and asked the man to leave.

You simply do not treat shop staff like this.

A few gripes of my own.
. Customers having chats with fellow customers in front of busy areas - milk, bananas
. Customers that continue on with their conversation on their mobile whilst being served
. The need for people to shop with their OH, 4 kids, a parent and their OH. Do you really need 7 others to go shopping?
. Shopping in their onesies and PJs
. Parents that lets their kid sit inside the trolley. Not only means dirty shoes in the trolley but if the trolley tips over, parents will not be able to get any compensation or damages as its the stupid parents' fault

Gripes that get on those friends and relatives that work(ed) in supermarkets:
. Having to explain to the same customers week in, week out that they cannot serve before 10am on Sunday
. Having to run around the store at 4pm on Sundays to get the same customers each week to the checkouts. These customers come in 20 mins to go trying to do a weekly shop. GO EARLIER!
. The inane panic on Xmas Eve Eve and Xmas Eve as customers buy 20 loaves of bread, 40 pints of milk because they cannot cope the supermarkets closed for ONE DAY. Which 18 loaves and 32 pints will be slung out.
. Customers that lie to shop assistants saying 'Oh you used to sell this as bought this every week' when the store never stocked the item
. Banned customers trying to come into the store every hour. Just accept you are banned and no need to stress out the store's managers, shop assistant and security guard. Banned for various reasons from being abusive to everyone to stealing.

This. My brother worked in ASDA temporarily and he had to register a complaint for a customer.

ASDA will sometimes open the doors before 10am on a Sunday so that people can still view items etc. Now this particular customer's complaint was that ASDA do not advertise this anywhere (why would they).

The customer complained that they could have had a lift from their OH but decided not to take it up as they would have got there for 9:30 and would have been waiting around for half an hour. Instead they walked to the store in time for 10am. Rain fell out of the sky while they were talking, and the customer got wet.

People who walk slowly, I don't enjoy food shopping and want to get it over with as quickly as possible!

People who can see you are trying to reach for something but still stand in the way, then glare at you when you ask them to move!

Parents screaming at their children. I can cope with screaming children, you don't know why they are upset. It's the parents who scream back that are the worst. Or even the parents who seem to scream at their children for no reason what so ever, feel so sorry for those kids!

Checkout staff who chat to each other while serving customers. I think this is one of the most rude things they could do. I have worked in retail for many years and made sure to give the customer my complete attention while serving them.

People who don't look where they are going (or don't care) and crash into my mum who needs a stick to walk.

Supermarkets that suddenly stop a range for a while.
At the moment Morrisons and Tesco have stopped my DW favourite Weight Watchers bagels! Plus Morrisons have stopped the WW frozen deserts.
