Either of those two scenarios happened two me I'd have been kicked out of the store for verbally ripping the heads off the people.

Nobody but me/family deal with my daughter happened last year at a local church fund raising event- surface to say we have not been invited back.

OR and here's a novel thought, you could have some consideration for others and if unable to keep your child under control you remove it from the store/

I hate the cashiers who chat. They talk to their friends/staff/customers endlessly while being as slow as possible putting their shopping through the till while you wait. And when its finally my turn you chat again - I know damn well you are not interested in the slightest about whats in my trolley and you have to do it to be friendly. But don't. What I really want you to do is scan everything as quickly as possbile and allow me to leave the store as fast as I can.

I'm sure you do luvvie but don't slag off the poor cashier - direct your angst to the Management who implement rules that staff must be polite and have stock questions to ask customers monitored by mystery shoppers on pain of reprimand or dismissal.
Sorry life doesn't revolve totally around you dear as you sound a real charmer.

When the checkout person hands you your change...........
Puts the notes in your hand first THEN a pile of coins on the notes so all the coins end up on the floor !!!
    I hate that............
Why they cannot put the coins in your hand first & THEN the notes...........

I agree, I never know the logic of this. Pennies slide allover the joint!

i work in Asda in the instore travel money bureau ( previously worked same in sainsburys ) the amount of things that annoys me even though i wasnt even shopping most of them have been mentioned , have had a good chuckle reading them

people on mobiles when in Q and skanky women wearing onesies

its annoys me on a sunday when at 4pm/4:30pm when the store is closing and i am on my way out you see people running in saying to the security at the entrance what time you close or i only want a couple of things.

like the store hasnt been open since 10am

At least with 24/7 opening not something I have to worry about

Carefully chosen quote there. If you look at the quote I was responding two then you will see the child was under control it was the cashier who was out of order.

Also just who are you to judge how I look after my child- put children together they may make a little noise- not out of control just having fun and it is up to me to look after them that doesn't mean letting her run riot

what i used to do was give the customer the change and notes in seperate hands.

Althou there were several times i go abuse form customers for doing this.
I handed over the coins first, then got abuse for short changing them, even thou i had the notes in the other hand waiting to give it to them.

but it doesn't matter what you do, you will always get some customers angry with you.
which is why im glad i no longer work in retail
  • I am annoyed by people poking fingers in the tops of the in-store pre-packed crusty rolls...

Also the cashier that ties the clear bags (groceries) at the check outs... If I'd wanted them tied, I'd have done it myself ....

Same here, I used to work in a charity shop and the rudeness of some customers towards voluntary staff (some who were vunerable adults) was disgusting. I didn't want to be part of an environment that shouted at people with special needs just because they were having a bad day. >:(
  • Kids opening the fire door and setting off the alarm. Happens at least once a shift.
People asking you to look out back for an item, then accusing staff of not actually looking.
    Power tripping department managers.
Sorting items to be discounted. Never buy any discounted food with split packaging, i could tell you horror stories about how it's stored with waste that's been there far too long.
*Assuming you're in England or Wales.
