  • Before I sign-up for the 30-day free trials with Experian and Equifax, can anyone tell me whether the 'credit score' options are worth going for and also if they are included in the free trials.

    Thanks.

The credit scroe is an extra cost around £5 I think.

They say there is no such thing as a credit score as each company scores differently, however it will give you a rough idea of how healthy your credit file is. BUT you can find this out by just viewing your credit file and querying anything that you feel should not be there.

    Hope this helps.

There's a new cashback site - http://www.edealsuk.com - which gives you £2 cashback for signing up for the 30 day Credit Expert trial.

When you register on edealsuk, enter the promotional code CHRISTMAS so you get £10 for starters in your edealsuk account. They don't pay out until you have £25 (see also the edealsuk thread)

My credit report has a previous tenant who lived at the flat im renting. He down some fraud and is shown on my credit report, I emailed experian and they refused to rermove him. Is this going to affect me when applying for a mortgage? I think it comes under the CIFAS Section.

I don't understand why they refused  . Istist in Experian removing this information from your file:
Can I get other people's financial information removed from my credit report?
If you are not financially connected to other people shown on your report you can ask us to remove their information from your report. This is called a financial disassociation. We cannot do this if you still live at the same address and share a financial link e.g. joint account. If your credit report shows a financial connection that is no longer correct, you can ask us to remove it ...

I think this will affect you ...
  • Hi I wonder can anyone help me!!!

I am new to the site and am currently trying improve my poor credit rating. I have obtained my credit report from 1 of the CRA's and viewed the info held.

My credit report states I have a default from 2003. I am sure this is a major contribution to my current credit status as 'poor'.

Over 2 yrs ago, I was having problems making payments on a credit card and made an arrangement with the credit card company to pay £100.00 per month until the balance was clear. The next thing I know a debt collection agency is contacting me requesting the £100 per month. I was not credit aware back then and didn't realise that this would have an effect on my future credit rating/obtaining credit(stupid I know but I was young and foolish) so I just paid the £100 per month until the balance was clear.

My credit report now shows that there was a partial settlement made, showing as satisfied. I was not aware that I was only paying part of the amount outstanding - As far as I am aware I was paying the full amount.

I have written to the cra and the lender. The lender has advised me that the information is correct and basically there is little I can do about this bar waiting 6 years for the information to 'drop off' my report. The cra has advised they cannot amend or delete info without authorisation from the lender - catch 22!!

I have written to them on a number occasions disputing this and asking that they clairfy/recitify the information and amend or delete as appropriate. My partner and I will be having our first child soon and are hoping to move house next year and I am very concerned that this will effect our chances of obtaining a mortgage (my partner has an good credit record/rating, however as we currently live together we are now financially linked. His name is on our mortgage at the moment, but as we are hoping to move to a larger house lenders may not be willing to give him, solely the amount we require.)

Can anyone help me or advise me what I can do to either

    a) get the default info either removed or amended or
    b) any tips on how to improve my credit rating would be greatly appreciated or
    c) does anyone out there know if my partner could be the sole applicant on a mortage application with me as a contributer but not actually on the mortgage as such (if I provide a letter from a financial advisor stating this)

I have recently obtained a barclaycard which I intend to buy my christmas presents with and then clear the full balance immediatley - to try and improve my rating.

I have also cleared a substancially amount of my debt and with the remainding amount I have jiggled the balances about to get the best rates - through balance transfers etc. Hopefully I will be 100% debt free by nexy May.

AnY help or comments would be most greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Ally
  • Hi Folks
I Applied For A Credit Report Via Credit Expert (experian) And Followed The Instructions For The Free 30 Day Trial Period. I Am Getting A Little Worried As I Have Emailed The Customer Service Dept That I Would Now Like To Cancel (obviously Well Within The 30 Days As Martin Suggested) And I Have Had No Reply Until Today, Whereupon I Am Told That Enquiries Can Take Up To 30 Days To Answer? Cleverly There Is No Telephone Number To Speak To Someone.

Has Anyone Else Found This A Problem? I Am Worried That I Have A Couple Of Weeks Left Before I Am Stung For The £60.

No, because before I enter into a contract I always read the T&C's first...

Cancellation procedure covered in section 7.

Call them on the freephone number and tell them you want to cancel. Or send them an email and keep a copy of it as proof.
