Hi all - have briefly skimmed the thread and send (((hugs))) to all those in need. Having a hectic day because DH is off to France tomorrow and has loads of last-minute stuff to do so we've been up early getting it all done and assembling my new desk. The place looks like a tip now because all his packing is waiting to be loaded on the trailer. I'm just going to concentrate of getting him organised and clear up tomorrow when he's gone.
Good luck to everyone who is going through stressful times, medical problems and floods. It's raining here but I'm not complaining - this is nothing compared to what others are going through.
I must go now - loads to do but will have oodles and oodles of MSE time when I have the house to myself! I love him to bits but I also love time to myself!
Hope everyone is having a good day and will catch up with you all later or tomorrow!

Good afternoon all,
We had a great time swimming at the local pool this morning until about 20 children all turned up at once. They started jumping in and splashing each other, etc. Makes trying to swim quite difficult. I suppose that's what the holidays are all about though so I can't really complain.
I bought DD's school skirt and sweater for her new high school today. I also got most of her PE kit. The total bill? £119.53!   That didn't include trainers, hockey boots, shin pads, socks (PE and normal schoolwear), shoes, shirts or bags. AND, I will also have to buy a second skirt and sweater. Will definitely need to get my OS head on over the next few weeks.
I am roasting a huge chicken now and we will have that with some mash and lots of veg for dinner. XDH is coming for dinner as we are all going to see the Simpsons Movie tonight. The chicken should provide dinner tomorrow night too and I will use the carcass to make some stock as I have none.
Time for :coffee: I think. x"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Afternoon everyone
huge (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))00000 to those affected by the floods and those without water. What a shame people are taking more than they are supposed to hope when things get back to normal they are named and shamed by locals.
((hugs Scuzz)) I don't know how much money he owes you but can't you just walk away. If things are getting nasty then is there a friend or someone you can get to help
My sister was in a similar position to you (although things never got nasty) but she has had to write the debt off which she can't really afford but she is never going to get the money.
Well OH cleaned the house from top to bottom yesterday after his weekend's performance and I now have lots of nice fresh flowers. Had a talk Monday and he has promised to cut down on his alcohol and act his age:rolleyes: We shall see if things improve.
Tea tonight is fish salad and new potatoes0 -
Oooooo welcome PP's DD to the Radley Club.:T:T:T A girl after my own heart. I love them - but I'm lucky cos OH gets JL staff discount which helps a lot.Penny-Pincher!! wrote: »Hi Guys!!
DD home safe and sound. She had a great time and bought back some lovely pressies. Nearly had a heart attack when she showed me her new Radley bag she bought on the ferry for £75:eek:        ...she saw it on the way out and saved accordingly:rolleyes: ...my pressie was expensive too, but she said there wasnt much to spend her money on and that I did say to treat herself......well yes Charlie...but not that much:rotfl: .....oh well...its a fab bag, will never date and will be a collectors item in a few months. It is all authenticated and have the receipt, tags and dustbad in a safe place. Its pink too and she is going to wear it for the wedding we are going too in a few weeks. My mum is now buying her the matching purse
2 washloads done today and all washing up to date. DW will go on after dinner and just a few things need to be put away. Have bagged some stuff for the charity shop, just old towels and sheets etc.
DD requested a roast dinner tonight:D ..so we have a half leg of lamb in the oven, roasties, swede/carrot mash, cabbage and OH has just gone to Lidls to get some FR eggs for yorkies.
OH & I went to Asda this morning and bought all the food and soft drinks (+ mixers) for the baby shower for £27.00. There will be loads left and got some gorgeous cheeses and pate. Managed to use £6 in vouchers, so only £21 in total. Just have grapes, lemons and baguettes to buy on Friday, so they are fresh. Luckily, most of the items I wanted were on special and had long dates on them. Was going to make my own sausage rolls and quiche, but TBH...after ingredients and electricity, it was just as cheap to buy and make it easier on myself:o ...sorry OS!! Some guests are bringing sweets/deserts so I dont have to worry about that. I have loads of Chenet wine from when we went to France at £1.15 a bottle, but again guests will bring so may only use a couple of bottles. For 18 in total, I dont think the costings are too bad. I am not sure whether to do a cake yet
...do you normally have cake at baby showers?
Anyway, Id better go and check on dinner. Hugs to all...especially JakieO.

You'll have to get Auntie Nels to take her to Cheshire Oaks - fab Tula shop there. Which model did she get? I really like the 'By the Seaside' signature bags which are the collectors items but I personally tend to wait until they get the new seasons out and then buy last seasons heavily reduced in the outlet shops - my last one was 'Walkies' and I picked that up for £23. Afterall, I'm only interested in the dog.
Careful she doesn't lose the dog - I've lost loads, and it hurts just as much as losing a real pet - believe me.
Good luck with the baby shower. Last one I went to had these cute little cup cakes with pink and blue icing - such a sweet idea I thought. I'm sure you remember from when you were pregnant with DD that soft cheeses and pate are a complete no-no for pregnant women. I remember my mum having the biggest wedge of stilton at Christmas one year when I was pregnant and it drove me nuts not being able to have any.
My DD1 has just come back from Cub camp - been away since Saturday, so I was able to read Harry Potter in peace.
She is her mothers daughter alright, she said that it was so good to come home to a clean and tidy house, as people kept walking all over the tent in their muddy wellies. :rotfl: I'm so proud of her.

Hi!
Hugs to those feeling down today.
More hugs to anyone having flooding problems. After watching the news my heart goes out to you and makes me realise just how lucky I am.
Haven't been posting for a few days as yesterday we went to see Shrek3 which we all really enjoyed as we're huge Donkey fans. We've also been busy getting stuff ready for our holiday.
We set off tonight at midnight and drive down to get the ferry at Harwich in time to catch the morning boat over to Holland. We're spending a few days with a friend and then 2 weeks camping in various places. The last time we went over there it was just me and DH, 2 bikes, lots of sunshine, a very small tent and the basics. That was 16 years ago and I was much fitter and younger then!
This time It will be me, DH, DD(10), DD(6), an estate car, a 5 man tent and a lot more stuff!!!
How will I cope without the computer? Actually I'm really looking forward to this holiday as we haven't been camping for a couple of years and the girls are getting older and easier to take. We took both of them when they were babies and that was hard work. We've got lots of games, craft activities, books and the girls and I have got our MP3 players. They've both got quite interesting music tastes. DD(10) likes The Blues Brothers, Muse, Mika and Doris Day and DD(6) likes ACDC, Led Zep and Scissor Sisters.
Tea tonight is hm sausage and bean pie, roasted chipped potatoes, carrots, smoothies and melon for afters.
Have a dry and sunny time over the next 3 weeks!0 -
Haven't heard of Cheshire Oaks? It's Nelskis second home. Hoping to meet up with her there later in the year for some Radley retail therapy. :TPenny-Pincher!! wrote: »Hi Hun!!
It was the Radley Oyster Pink Hedgerow
and is lovely, the finish is great! I have 2 purses which I think are just the 2006 and 2007 plain black leather (walkies)ones...both gifts from mum. I'm more into Louis Vuitton TBH but ATM just not able to afford, but I do have a few anyway, so cant moan:D
Ive not heard of Cheshire Oaks.
I remember about the soft cheeses and pate for pregnant friend. She will have other cheeses to choose from. Other friend is bringing some Fois Gras and havent had this in ages...making my mouth water just thinking about it!
Hope you enjoyed HP book, OH did!

I loved HP, and feel quite empty now that it's all over. Can't believe that there will never be another.

Evening all and hugs to those suffering from too much/too little water asnd everyone else who needs one
Charlies_Mum - I really feel for you - i stand on a chair when the rentokill man comes to work just in case but at least I can write the word mouse - the other things I have to call Hermans because I can neither say or spell the disgusting word that begins with SP and ends with DER - when I scream at work that ther's a herman and someone has to get rid of it no one knows what I'm talking about!
DD is at her sister's for the night so I am celebrating by eating MEAT - a lovely bit of pork tenderloin marked down at Mr T's - I have to cook meat in secret or I get a pitying look and/or a lecture from 10yo dd
Interesting day at work - I work in an immigration court mostly doing bail applications and today was my first ever videolink. When they told me that the equipment was as easy as programming a video I didn't tell them that that's dd's job as I am incompetent. Anyway it all went well and it's right isn't it that the tv puts ..... oh about 10 pounds on you - please agree
have a great evening
stefI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
frizz_head, I know what you mean about HP.
