  • Car insurance renewed elsewhere for £200 cheaper :j. Had to put £50 deposit on the credit card, but went through TCB so £26 hopefully coming back from there. It’s £20 less per month than our current provider :T. So happy! Xx

    That's great news :T.

    This may be a silly suggestion but could you cut Oakley's fur yourself?

  • A little update;

    Current list I need to ‘sort’.

    1) Car needs new Engine oil. DH’s Best Mate has priced this as £60 for oil and filter . I was thinking it would be £20 . Best Mate getting this for us on Monday. Will just have to pay for it and move on
    2) Oakley needs his hair cut. I usually take him to a girl who lives in our village but she’s put her prices up (again ). A neighbour mentioned the agriculture school in the next village needing grooming volunteers for students to practice on, so I might find out more about that. College is a no go until September. Will probably go to the usual girl this time. DH isn’t keen on me attempting it myself
    3) DS2 is starting middle school in September and needs a phone for safety purposes. Haven’t done anything about this yet.
    4) Both boys need new school uniforms, shoes and trainers (MiL will usually help with this). Spoke to MiL about this today and she’s happy to help :T
    5) Car insurance. Renewal is £5 more per month going forward if I stay with my current provider. I need to do a comparison and hopefully I can get it cheaper overall, but will need money for a deposit if I do switch. Renewal done. £220 cheaper overall, £20 per month less :j
    6) I have borrowed all the Christmas savings and have nothing left in the pot . I really don’t know how we will cope this year. ???????

    Plus a ‘want’ list of
    1) decorate the hall and get a new carpet. It’s looking shabby and I feel embarrassed when people come to the door/come in as it’s a grotty first impression. Not a priority, it’ll have to wait
    2) I promised DC a new game that comes out in September if we can work as a team to raise the money for it. Maybe a bootsale??
    3) We have zero plans for the summer holidays. MiL has booked us a lodge for 4 nights in August in the Lake District :D. 5 of us and the 2 dogs

    Hi sorry things are tough, r.e. uniforms a lot of our local schools are taking in donations of items that are no longer needed or through lost property is this something you can look at, is there a parents facebook page for the school. I got some extra uniform for about 50p a few months ago and it was in great condition.
