  • Not sure what to do with my buildings and contents renewal. Had the quote from the current insurers - it would go up from £8.30 per month as it was this year, to £9.85 (12 monthly payments). The total amount payable is £118 (and I have no way of paying it annually). Did a few searches and I can get it slightly cheaper at £106, but it means a deposit of £17odd and 10 monthly payments of £8.88. Under normal circumstances I’d think £12 saved was a great idea, but it seems quite a bit of hassle with having to pay the deposit etc.:think::think:

Oh that's a shame PLMBL. :( I've been reading every day to see if you'd heard. Have you entered any other holiday competitions that you're waiting to hear from. Fingers crossed there will be some more you can enter - I know you're really lucky usually. xx

I’m sure I’ve entered others, but nothing I’ve taken note of. What will be will be. I know I’ve been lucky in the past and you can’t have everything.

To make it worse, I also got an email today from the people that normally pay for a respite break for us, to say they are no longer doing them :(. Again I know we’ve been lucky in the past but I’m feeling a little flat today. Xx

I can imagine how both pieces of news have left you feeling a bit fed up. That's a real shame about the respite break. Winning a competition is a fantastic bonus but if respite is something you can normally rely on, it must feel rotten that it's no longer available.

Is it something you all went on together as a family? I've no knowledge of these things at all really but could you tap into another charity/foundation for something similar. xx

Sorry you didn't win the holiday, I know you must be disappointed :(

Unfortunately there have been cut backs in council funding, probably why the break funding has gone. I've been told I won't receive the carers payment again :(

    Take care xx

  • Thanks for all your kind replies.

Tea, the Family Foundation supplied whole family trips. We usually chose Edinburgh, and it was a chance for just the 4 of us to get away for a few days. There’s another Carer’s Grant I’m aware of, but it would only pay for me which is no good.

SA, that’s such a shame about your Carer’s grant. Our council haven’t said anything at all about mine this year, so I’m not sure if they are doing them or not. Will chase it up as I’m sure I’ve normally heard by now.

Have listed some things on eBay this morning. Still have more to go but I’m having a break! Entered more competitions last night to get back on a winning streak hopefully. I have a headache I can’t shift and I know it’s because I’m stressing about money :(.

Hopefully today will be a NSD :T Xx
