  • Lilt, the fire didn't work and was less than pretty, but it looked better than the cardboard box does right now! Think we are going to just get a new bit of marble (without a hole in!!) and do something decorative until we can afford a new fire.

Thanks for sticking up for me re DH. It's hard to tell sometimes if I'm overreacting.

Haven't spoken to Npower but was considering it. On the other hand though, they quoted 2.5 days for the job and it's going to take 4, so I'm almost scared to ring them incase they say the overall costing has gone up!! Hopefully it will be finished tomorrow and we will be warm again!

Talking of 'warm', I got an email today from F1rst Utility to say they are putting my monthly direct debit amount up to £220 . Got straight on the phone to say, er no you aren't!! Told them that my Warm Homes discount will be applied next month, and the fact that I'm currently having a new boiler installed will reduce my bills anyway. Thankfully I spoke to a real human and he actually reduced my bill by £20 per month instead :D.

Levi, glad you were able to reuse the paper! It was a roll I bought from Mr A because I needed red paper to make reindeer noses at Beavers and couldn't find any in the cheap card shop! You are right though, it's industrial strength!! It was £2 I think but it was quite long and did many presents after the red noses!

Oh Lucky I so get your letting Mr Lucky be independant vs his safety. I'm the same with Mr SA. It can be very stressful at times.

  • Hi all and thanks for you concern. Sorry I've been missing for a couple of days - had a really upsetting situation involving DS1 at school. Still not sure we've got to the bottom of it despite lots of hours dealing with it both in and out of school, but we are on the up again now. On top of that, the plumber managed to cover my lounge in black water out of the radiator. It was seized and then it basically exploded! It went up the walls, on the ceiling, all over the curtains, the floor, and the poor guy looked liked he'd been down the pit as he took it full force in the face. Major cleanup operation, but I'm amazed to say it's sparkling again and you can't even tell it happened. New boiler is now fully installed and we are warm again.

Thursday was a NSD. Yesterday wasn't due to things happening at both schools for comic relief but I don't begrudge that in the slightest.

DH has been surprisingly ok considering all we've had to deal with the last few days. I'm almost daring to hope the tablets are working in the way they are supposed to. My tablets are also helping obviously, or I would have been on the floor the last two or three days!!

Oh no!!!! At least the disgusting water has been cleaned out! They couldn't do it on mine because of the layout of the flat vs the horrible seized up radiators. They couldn't drain it out of a window properly!

Really happy about DH being ok, and your boiler being in and you being warm. Do you keep standing in front of it listening to it? :rotfl: - I still do that now!

Bless DS1... that doesn't sound good at all. I hope he is ok, and you are too. Glad your tablets are keeping you on an even keel and working properly.

Much love, and happy to hear from you! xx
