  • Hey Lucky,

Hope it all goes well today.

You are doing really well and things are definitely are on the up and up.

    Have a lovely day.

    October xx
  • Bless you Nikki, what a tough time you must have been having! Did the op stop your seizures then if you are no longer on meds? Has it left you with other problems? Sorry if I'm being too personal. I really hope you and your DH catch a break soon.

When I rant and rave I never think about how it would make people in your kind of situation feel. I'm sorry if it ever offends . Lovely to hear you use the word 'motivating', thank you Xx

    Hi Lucky,

only now getting round to respond. First of all it's good to rant and rave to get things off your chest, I am not offended at all. I only had 3 seizures. After the 1st one they eventually discovered what was the cause and told me I had to have surgery. All happened in the space of 6 mths. I was put on meds just before surgery and spent 18mths on it. I really pushed for surgeon to keep reducing the dosage. I was on a high and sleepy most of the time.

I have fatigue and short term memory issues. I mix things up a lot. No seizures since op and I should be having another MRI in a few months time. I can really relate a lot to what your husband is going through as well.

My husband gets frustrated a lot and it is tough on him. Last year my husband and I had to move. Back in my own home which needs a lot of work done and we are trying to sort it all out. very overwhelming for me. I don't know how I am going to do it but it will be done. It's up and down for me. You keep on

PS. I took ages to find this post. eventually found it, Still got to figure out how to use the forum. I am getting there
  • Poor DS2 Lucky and to the tablets. I am ridiculous about my tablets. I have a box, open, where Jelly could effectively get to them at any point should she take the desire. But I am so strict that she calls them 'mummys tablets' and the only time she has ever picked up one of the packets is when she takes the notion to hand it to me chuntering to herself 'They're mummys tablets, you can't have those!' which can be quite comical. I've spent 18 months taking them in front of her and so she knows that they are mine and she can't have them... I would never ever ever tempt fate by leaving the actual pills out on a counter anywhere.. she has no idea what they look like once they are out of the packet and would happily eat them! We all know DH would have been distraught if anything happened to DS2 but it is that dip in memory that is really dangerous bless him.

His behaviour does seem highly irrational when put like that. I do feel for you with the crazy balancing act you have keeping everything going and DH on an even keel. Hugs sunshine xx

Nikki what an inspiring story. I hope your seizures have stopped now. Well done on all that you have managed to go through and come out of the other side so well

Hi Lilt...Thank you.... so far no more seizures since op and mostly more so without the meds. You have not even heard the tip of my story and you find it inspiring. I am improving.

Have some more hugs from me. You must be so sick of all this one thing after another. Hope your DS2 is better soon. And how encouraging to hear from Nikki another brain tumour survivor, just shows it's not all doom and gloom (Nikki my OH is a fellow survivor). Take care Lucky and I hope you have a good weekend x
    Wow Sun,

It must not be easy for you looking after your OH and trying to do you as well. I didn't realise how common brain tumours are out there until it happened to me.

  • Evening all!

Nikki, thank you so much for giving us an insight into your issues. It sounds like you face similar things to my DH. He also mixes things up a lot, not just in a confused way but also saying the wrong word without realising. For example, saying 'he is X's daughter' when clearly he means son, or 'time for bed' when he means time for school etc. I hope you remain seizure free and things get easier for you Xx

We are still without heating or hot water and they are now saying job might not be finished until Thursday . It will all be worth it though when we are toasty warm for half the price!!

Lilt, the kettle has been on it's last legs for ages! It leaks and doesn't pour properly, just another thing on the 'to be replaced' list!!

Sparky, it's sunny and bright here but at 3•c it's not exactly warm! I've still got my washing on the line though!

We are managing to keep warm thanks to a a couple of heaters borrowed from MiL and PM. One is keeping the lounge warm with the door shut, and the other takes the chill off upstairs before the boy's bedtime. We have all been going to bed in multiple layers! Thankfully our shower is electric so we have still been managing to keep clean :D. Boiler has had to be moved from it's position behind the fire in the lounge (didn't realise this meant we would lose the fire too as it used to sit on the boiler :(. We now have a piece of cardboard where there used to be a fire . More expense!) and put into the airing cupboard upstairs. Furthermore we needed a new water tank in the loft but our loft hatch wasn't big enough so they were going to widen it and put a new one in. Joiner turned up this morning and said no, so they took the surround off the original hatch and managed to get it up there! Hoping they will finish the job today but it may be tomorrow.

    Yesterday was a NSD.

DH upset me yesterday. He asked to go out for a run, which I agreed to tentatively, knowing he was missing our gym sessions while the boiler guys were here, but not really wanting to have to go rescue him if the worst happened, and leave the guys alone in the house. Anyway, he told me what route he planned and I settled down to watch him on the app. He then proceeded to run. And run. And run. I was fuming. He doesn't see what my problem is as he didn't seizure and found his way back ok . He was absolutely exhausted when he got back and very vague as he'd pushed himself too hard. I was stressed to bits watching him and then worried about him for the rest of the day. It's so hard to get a balance between allowing him to be an adult and give him freedom vs keeping him safe. I need him to push the boundaries on occasions to see if he is getting better, but it's scary when he does.

Ooh Lucky I would have punched him. Or grounded him. Hard to know what to do exactly, but he should know that he can't frighten you like that and that frankly, if he wants to push his limits on the exercise front he should do it in the gym with you!!

Gutted about the fire :( that happened to my old back boiler fire too. It was ugly as sin so needed to go anyway but in all the time I lived there it was just covered up with plyboard because it wasn't something that was necessary to be replaced so we just didn't!

    NSD :T:j

Have you spoken to Np0wer about the fact that they have not actually amended the loft hatch? That would have been factored into the costings, and you were charged a bit for it weren't you? It might mean you get a refund?

    Big hugs! xx
