Hi, This morning I had a dd come out my Halifax Easycash account. The dd was for £489 I only had somthing around £220 at the time but the bank has alowed the dd and left me with a negative balance! In the past I'm pretty sure the dd just failed and I received a charge so why has this one come out? Will it bounce back after so long?
I don't have an overdraft on this account btw.
Thanks.

Do you have the difference to pay into the account now? Might save yourself being charged.

Yes I do in another account, is this what happens? Do they give a chance to pay the difference and if it wasn't paid after so long the dd returns?0 -
It won't fail straight away, if it is going to bounce it will happen later, it gives you the chance to pay money in throughout the day to prevent this and charges.

You cant blame the bank if they apply a charge if you dont have the money to cover a direct debt, You the customer accepted the terms when opening the account.
If you dont know you have a direct debt coming out on a specific date and dont have funds to cover it. Then you're not budgeting properly or looking after your account.0 -

When have I blamed the bank exactly?? I asked what the process was with my neg balance nothing to do with moaning at the bank, I already know it's me to blame for the dd, now it's just damage limitation.0 -

If cleared funds are not paid into the account by 15.30 the DD will be returned unpaid.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Thanks, I have now paid the outstanding £250 so I wont get charged! I have dds coming out of 3 different accounts, I think I will put them all in 1 place from now on so it's easier to manage!
Thanks for the help everyone.0 -

Just remember to also credit the one account with sufficient funds to pay them all.0
