We had one of those little toys with a big sucker on the bottom, so when my LO was sat in her highchair, I stuck this toy on the table and she would bash it to her hearts content. Only about £10 from amazon.

Oh- what about the next size Gro-bag (if you use them?) Mine were quite pricey. There is 6-12m size, 12-18 and 18-36, so perhaps someone could buy a couple?
  • Thanks Kaye! The grobags are a great idea as will definitely need those :)
  • My little boy was just under 4 months last Christmas, so all his gifts were for throughout the year too!

We ended up with bath toys, clothes in various sizes, a dinner set, a couple of keepsakes, puzzles, stacking rings, tummy time toys, a playmat, a jumperoo (life saver), a push along baby walker etc..

But you could also get things like an activity cube, a cosy ring, an interactive learning table, there's lots of ideas and lots of sales on at the moment!

P.S I used a walker with my baby (downstairs only - why anyone would put one upstairs without a stair gate is beyond me) and he had absolutely no problems walking whatsoever. Crawled at 7 months and was walking at 9 months. It's personal choice, but used correctly and not too often and it's great fun to have them bashing at your ankles when they get some speed!

  • brick trolley with a handle to hold on to- toddler can use it to walk with, play with the bricks and push around. Lots of play value for years. Hope they are still made! First toys - shape sorters and push in jig saws - wooden ones are nice

I had forgotten about jumperoos until I read this thread(DS is almost 4!)......absolute life saver! I bought mine on eBay for £50 and then sold it later for £50 so didn't really end up costing anything!

Also the gro bags. Genius. They have different togs if I remember correctly so need to consider time of year depending on the age that is bought etc :)

what about a nice decorative toybox or bookcase? people often buy toys and books, but don't think about how/where you will store them!

Gro bags are a great idea. I have a couple of the travel ones which means when out somewhere we can get her ready for bed in her sleep suit and gro bag, then put her in the car seat. When we get home we can transfer her straight to bed.

The most popular toy for most of my NCT groups babies are stacking cups. Only about £3 but hours of fun, with stacking, bashing, hiding things under, etc. Do you have a Sophie the Giraffe? Highchair toys are hand as said above.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
