Useful items for 6 month old - ideas please!

Hi all
My family have very kindly asked what they can buy my daughter for Christmas (she will be 6 months old). In money saving fashion, my mum has suggested that they can buy things for her that will be useful over the next 6-12 months whilst I am on statutory maternity pay which will be very handy.
I've already bought her a few bits which I know we need (bibs and weaning bits, 6 month plus clothes/socks) but would love to hear any ideas or recommendations from anyone else please for things they found useful for their 6-12 month old.
We don't tend to be an extravagant family, so presents will probably range from £10 - £40 (Max) but people would be happy to club together for a bigger item and hubby and I can contribute too if needed.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

High chair, next size carseat.0

Membership to soft play or similar as it works out much cheaper. I took my 4 year old yesterday and it was over £11 for the day, but an annual pass is £125, so soon makes financial sense. I had an annual pass when she was younger but won't get enough use out of it now that she's at school.0

Books for a variety-ish of agesThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
My daughter is nearly 9 months. The highchair suggestion is a good one and I can recommend the Ikea Antilop one which is £13 including tray. A Vtech walker seems popular once they are steady on their feet whilst holding on, not the ones they sit in but the ones like a zimmer frame. Do you already have a jumperoo as they're a bit hit here and most people buy one secondhand? Are you currently using a carrycot/pram, as you'll be moving to a pushchair and in cold weather you'll want some kind of buggle snuggle/cosy toes.
My daughter can't crawl yet so soft play centres seem a bit pointless. However I can imagine they would be a welcome gift for me next year.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Plastic spoons and bowls for weaning.
A bumbo is also handy:

Great idea thanks.....not sure we have room for any more books tho! I'm a complete bookworm and have already bought her all my childhood favourites, as well as lots and lots of baby/toddler board books. I read to her every day and she is enjoying exploring the "its not my" range of books herself

Thanks Kynthia - was thinking of a jumperoo but wasn't sure as they seem soooo expensive even second hand! I've also heard good things about the vtech walkers so might suggest that to family.
Cte1111 - thanks! Got some great weaning bits from aldi in their baby event clearance which I will wrap up for christmas. A bumbo sounds like a great idea too!
Managed to get a cheap chicco highchair and stroller from wauwaa when they had a 60% off code on their Facebook page so fortunately won't need to shell out for those as money will be tight until I go back to work now.
Thanks for all the great ideas - much appreciated!

Agree with this - do not buy a "babywalker". They do not help children to walk as the legs are forced into an incorrect position AND they are the cause of a high percentage of household accidents involving babies, from scolds to falling down stairs. They should be banned.
Agree with the cosy-toes, brilliant for keeping babies warm. My daughter loves books, but touchy-feely ones were good at six months.
Stairgate? Umbrella-type pushchair (if from several people)? Bath toys? Swimming "lessons"?0 -

Thanks! All fab ideas
- bath toys will be fun!
Yep I've heard scary things about baby walkers so will steer clear! The vtech zimmer style ones look good and seem to encourage baby to work at walking themselves. My baby is a little lazy so things that make her "work" will be great!0
