  • The best thing I ever did for DS was to draw a line and say that I would no longer support him financially. He grew up and sorted himself out and because we each knew the other's position, it removed so much tension. That said, I did frequently spend my evenings crying and worrying.
You have so much going on that you need to overcome just for the day to day stuff, you need to minimise issues as much as possible. Maybe when it's just him and the gf, he will see what she's really like.

    Take care

It came to this Beanie because you all need space. Few people can live in definitely with their parents. Can you focus on the things you can do without them there ( for some reason the first example in my head is naked mud wrestling!!)

Adult offspring have to move on, but their parents are still wrecks when they do ... I think nearly all parents in your situation feel terrible about it, just come on here, its okay - tell us what you miss

I wish my Mum was around to give me her point of view, before I moved out aged 25 we fought like cat and dog, it wasn't good. I rebelled moved into a studio flat around the corner which I could ill afford, but it was the best thing that happened to us. Our relationship got back on track for the next five years we had together.

Her legendary phone call on a Sunday morning was "lambs in the oven" my fav. And as I had no washing machine, she nicknamed herself bag lady of xxxxxx

I bet its going to be hard, in so many ways, I hope though very soon, you have stress free happy times, when he comes back to enjoy your hospitality

I've only just caught up with your diary but you are not a horrible person and I think you will be better off without them there. It might seem hard at first but hopefully you can keep a relationship with DS with less tension between you - wee lunch date here and there minus GF...

How did it ever come to this.

Because it's inevitable. The baby birds must fly the nest. Either they go as their choice, or they get a beak under their arse and are hoisted over the side.

Remember, you are a bird who flew the nest - as are most people. it's not that bad.

You are up early like me. I just want to say 'keep plodding' the two very wise words you have said to me in the past. I think it applies when life is tough in all sorts of situations xx

Also doing the MSE collective switch t0 BG which is not going smoothly either.
    It is now snowing.
Glad that I did a wee skip run earlier.
