I guess having a joiners possible retirement as a way to get moving on the kitchen is a good thing. All this projects take time and energy but so worth it when done and its a daily quality of living thing so some effort for BIG paybacks

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes. Big payback for very much effort is worth it. Another reason to do now as my disability becomes more challenging.

Is the issue with your mum that she is in denial about how difficult life is getting? I think you are very wise to do it now.

It’s sad that your mum doesn’t acknowledge how hard things have become for you…i wonder if she is in some sort of denial as she doesn’t want to think of you struggling. It’s your decision though and it’s a no brainer if it makes your home easier to navigate and a more pleasant place to spend time.
