Hugs to you Beanie (((((())))))) It sounds like you're finding it hard to see a way through the obstacles, and it's so unfair that these things aren't made super clear at the start. I hate to think of you being put off your dream day out because of practicalities. Also hate to think of you feeling nagged by us all, I do hope you aren't xxxx
Thank you to Bubbles mum for sharing your own experiences of a similar day ❤ Beanie, I hope someone can support you to navigate the practical issues and make it possible for you to go if you want to. Lots of love xxx5 -
Hi beanie. I had a look at the gardens site here where the head gardener explains how they prepare for garden parties and how they take pride in cutting the grass so close cropped (so that people can wear shoes with heels and wheelchairs can be used - they will have some on-site that are suitable and your organisation that has nominated you should ask them to contact you so that they meet your particular needs.
Normally outdoor events will recognise that people with a disability (visible or not) may need additional facilities and support and certainly when we took my late aunt (who had had a severe stroke) to Hampton Court, her attendant person did not pay or require a ticket. As others have said, we parked close-by for free too and were loaned a chair with rugged wheels for the terrain.
The Palace of Holyrood proudly states that it is fully accessible with facilities and there will be plenty of personal hygiene facilities in place to accommodate all needs. Perhaps the only thing the gardens cannot allow for is their induction loop working for hearing impaired visitors outside. The Queen will be 96 this year so I'm sure she needs facilities close-by too (as did her Mother!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
