I don't think you're shallow but honestly, if I were the VIP I'd be far more interested in the set up you run and what you put in the food parcels than how you looked. Plus if there are going to be clients there who use the food bank I'd be wary of looking too dressed up. I'm sure they'd feel more comfortable if you looked like you usually do. xx1

In that case then what about starting with a bit of self pampering like a mini manicure and lots of hand cream for those all important hand shake moments. Could you wear the outfit you wore for your Christmas meal in or is it too party-ish? xx Could you wear the outfit you wore for your Christmas meal in or is it too party-ish? xx

If getting your hair done makes you feel better - it’s worth it. It’ll last more than the visit...BUT if it’s very expensive you’ll regret it if you can’t pay it off over a couple of months. Sometimes the feel good factor is needed more than the need to be credit free.....as long as it is only occasionally so it doesn’t mount up. The credit free will come...you also need to live. That’s the tricky bit - finding a balance you’re happy with.
The price of hairdressers vary soooo much. I cringe when some of the folk at work mention the price of their hairdos. I pay £23 for a cut and blow at my neighbours who is a mobile hairdresser. I wish I was on that sort of money - I wash it myself at home run over to her house and she’s done in half an hour and that’s with a gossip too....I think I missed my way.
I’m pleased your food bank is getting some recognition with a visit from a VIP - you are not being shallow by wanting to feel good when you meet said person.January spends - £587.581

I think the VIP will be more interested in what you're doing rather than how you look. I do my own colour at home using Nice 'n' Easy costs less than £5. If your hair needs cutting I would just give it a good blow dry with a round brush and put plenty of hairspray in to give it some oomph. Then paint your nails, bit of lippy and mascara, you're good to go I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I'm hardly the person to give advice on the cost of hair as I tend to splash out on mine but SA makes some excellent points. I don't think the VIP will expect you to look done up to the nines - you will be meeting him/her in the workplace not at a charity reception. A couple of years ago I had to meet an HRH at work - I just wore what I usually wear in the office - Marisota trousers and a M&S top! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Oo exciting Beanie. I am with the others, the VIP won't worry about what you look like. But if it will make you feel better put on your best bib and tucker and a bit of makeup : )1

I think a visit that goes well will do wonders for how you feel. I don't see anything wrong with putting one hair cut on a credit card if you can pay it off quickly and it will help you feel confident about the day.
