Hi Tara and Twiggy, thank you both for your support. Unfortunately I just can't seem to shake the dark mood, and I've had a very busy couple of days back at work, trying to catch up, as well as having people ask me to do all kinds of different things left right and centre. I had 118 emails to go through on Monday  and a meeting to go to at lunch time, that the director wanted me to prepare the documents for, and my colleague had arranged an appointment for that afternoon, so I needed to prep for the meeting, sort through and answer emails, AND get everything ready for her appointment (as the admin person, I have the dictation and typing software on my PC and prep all of the paperwork for the sales and lettings properties), to top it all off, my PC had been switched off and had disconnected from the network so I spent the first hour of the day on the phone to IT support to try and get back up and running!
Today has been just as busy trying to catch up with what I didnt get chance to do yesterday, as well as MORE requests for random letters, files, documents etc from management. Sometimes I hate being the office 'glue' that holds both departments together, its too much!
Been helping OH with selecting interview candidates this evening, we spent a few hours going through CV's and applications whilst I was 'resting'(!) last week, and more have come in over the weekend so I've been helping him. He's got to arrange more interviews for next week now, and I've drafted him a template rejection letter to send out to the unsuccessful applicants. I dont mind doing it as it will hopefully help him secure the managers role full time, as his 6 month trial is coming to an end in October. Hopefully he gets the full time promotion, as it means another £2000 pay rise.
I'm feeling a bit on edge this week, as OH has been playing on the PS4 literally every waking hour, usually I don't mind, especially when its a two player game and I can join in, but its really got on my nerves the past week whilst we've both been at home. I've come to see it as 'the thing' that stops us from actually DOING stuff, or leaving the house. I am fully aware I need to get a grip.
I have decided what to do for my birthday. I am going to get a new tattoo! I have a small one on my lower back that I had done around 12 years ago, and as I've got older and put on weight, the small size of the teeny tattoo now looks ridiculous, so I have emailed my preferred tattoo artist to see if the idea I have in mind is do-able, and how much he would charge. I have a plan to use some of the artwork that our friend did for our wedding invitations, and have it turned into a tattoo cover up for the small one I already have. It means a long drive down to Brighton, but with it being my birthday, I thought we could make a weekend of it and have a weekend away at the same time! Just need to find out the cost, then tell OH :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:!! He has said he really does not want me to have any more tattoos as he doesnt like them, BUT, I am technically not having an additional one, just one to cover an existing one that does not look great. We'll see!
Back off to the hospital tomorrow, a week post surgery so got to go and get the dressing taken off and have the port checked to make sure its all working and is ok. I'm going to check whether this can be done at my local hospital next week, instead of going to the large city hospital which takes forever because the parking situation is horrendous!
I've been trying to check the balances on all of my accounts so that I can update my signature, but I can't get on to the post office online savings, which is really frustrating. I tweeted them and they sent me a link to the log in page, but I got paranoid that it wasnt genuine so I didnt want to put my details in! I cant go in branch to do it as its an online only savings account. Very frustrating!
I'm also still waiting for the refund to be processed on the last pair of shoes I returned from my disastrous attempt at shoe shopping, the parcel was collected on Friday so I'm being very impatient for the refund!
Thats all from me, not a very thrilling post again, sorry, and not much news on the money saving debt paying front. I have OH's birthday in October, as well as FIL's birthday, and SIL's birthday (on the same day as FIL's, 9 days after OH's!!) Its SIL's 21st and I have NO IDEA what we will be getting her!! Keep asking OH to check with his parents but he hasnt yet. Need to budget for this out of wages next week.0 -
Sorry to hear you're still not feeling great - hope you feel a bit brighter soon
wow your work sounds crazy busy at the moment. Hope all goes well at the hospital and that you manage to get seen at the local one.

So, its the weekend, both OH and I are off work, but I have the princely sum of £5.65 in my bank account so we can't plan anything, at least I can get the cleaning done, as not been able to do a lot for a while.
I withdrew my last full £10 and spent £6 in primark on some new black work shoes that I desperately needed, and the rest in Savers getting deodorant and hair gel for the OH!
With all of the present buying that is coming up (OH birthday and start of Christmas shopping, OH will get his sister and dad's presents) I am wondering whether to use the money I have in my savings accounts to start the present buying. I also have to order a new medical alert bracelet to wear now that I have the port fitted, my current one has my maiden name on it and the bracelet is really worn. With a discount code I can get with the charity, (25% off) it comes to around £50, but this amount will also cover OH's birthday presentdecisions decisions. Will wait to get payslip on Monday then do a proper budget so I know whether or not I need to use the savings pots (hopefully not but I guess that's what they are there for).
Work is still crazy busy, its the time of year I guess, everyone's back at work and back at school, and people want to be moved and settled before Christmas.
I've just exchanged 128 eon points for Clubcard points, I'm going to save them up over the next few months and use them towards the Christmas shopping etc. I feel in a much better place than I did last year!
The new gym I joined is now open, so me and my friend who joined with me are going to start one of the classes next week, I'm really looking forward to it!
Twiggy, I'm pleased with my at home SW progress, 4lb loss so far, despite a rough week this week due to the surgery and not being able to go to bootcamp or follow a strict meal plan. :T Very pleased with myself!0 -
Ill again :( I left work at 2.15 as I woke up this morning with a headache, sore throat, shivery and cold etc. A traditional start to October! I stuck it out as long as possible at work and got done what needed to be done ready for the next few days, hoping that I can just rest up for the afternoon and evening and feel better tomorrow. I probably shouldn't have gone in at all today (need the monies!!), but at least I know that I don't have to be worrying about all the stuff that needs doing at work if I am still ill tomorrow, and can just stay in bed in the morning and sweat it out, knowing that I've not left them struggling.
Had a lovely day yesterday shopping with my mum and sister, the three of us have not been shopping together as a trio for such a long time, it was lovely. My sister booked the day off work but still sent the niece to nursery so we didnt have to chase around after her, and mum treated my sister and I to some new clothes. Afterwards I went to the doctors to have my stitches removed, and then wondered around town and got OH's birthday present, my sisters christmas present, and a house warming gift for my friend, all with the refund from the shoes I returned :T In total I walked nearly 5 miles yesterday, after leaving the house at 8.45 and getting in at 3.30 with a couple of 10 minute stops here and there. Very pleased with myself.
Need to do a proper budget and sort out a food shopping plan, but I just want to curl up in bed so will have to do over the weekend.
I did get a good deal on the presents I got yesterday, OH's birthday present he asked for aftershave, so I went into a large beauty shop, they sell everything and its quite a bit cheaper than high street shops, they sell bare minerals make up and professional grade hair products etc. Anyway, I got chatting to the girl behind the counter and she was helping me choose, she offered me a 'white tester box' instead of the usual packaging, she then said it is a lot cheaper to have the white boxes, as they just put the tester bottles in plain packaging, so I got the aftershave for £35, instead of the retail price of £50 :T Just because the box is plain!!
Then I got my sister two of the adult colouring books, they were £4.99 each in Sainsbobs, the cheapest I've seen previously were £6.99 each, so saved £4 there.
Then I bought my friend a candle which had 25% off the £17.99 price tag (although that wasnt very MSE as I just went in the shop 'to look' and ended up with two candles, (both on offer), one for her and one for me!)
After a very successful and happy day yesterday, I'm a bit sad to be feeling so rough today, but fingers crossed I'll perk up by the weekend.0 -
Pleased you had a lovely day with your mum and sister, just a shame you were then poorly yesterday. Hope you've perked up today xDebt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Loving all the bargains
am planning to start my christmas shopping this week as I've a few days holidays booked.

I've updated my signature with my savings balances and the new debt totals now the SC payment has gone out.
We did the food shopping yesterday, £91.87, but we shop once a month instead of doing a weekly shop, so this should last us until the beginning of November apart from getting milk and bread when needed.
After all my purchases last week and the bills that have come out, I have less than £60 left in my account. I've got OH's birthday present though, and managed to get some Comic COn tickets for this Sunday, they were all sold out but I found some posted on a local for sale site for a couple that can no longer make it, so £20 for two tickets, this finishes OH's birthday present and we get a day out.
After spending two days last week feeling very low, I have spoken to someone on 7Cupsoftea, kind of like an online forum, and they suggested I speak to my GP about my low moods. I had counselling for depression previously and have had episodes over the years, so I decided they were probably right and I need to seek help again. So I've booked an appointment for this afternoon, I also want to talk to them about the options for getting my deaf ear sorted out, as this isnt helping with my low mood.
OH has now decided to go into work later and come to the appointment with me as he wants to see what the options are with my ear, so now I'm not going to feel comfortable talking about my low episodes and how I feelSometimes, I wish he didnt take such an interest in my health, as I had really worked myself up to booking the appointment and facing the issue head on.
Will see how it all pans out.
I've also booked my induction for the gym that I joined for this afternoon, the online booking system is so complicated, I wanted to go to the Lunch time zumba class instead of the actual gym, but it took so long to sort out the log in stuff, I missed the cut off for booking onto Zumba, which was a 12.30 start. Ah well, at least I can have my doctors appointment, then head to the gym for 4.30 and see how things go.
My mum and grandma have called in to see us this morning, my mum is looking after my niece so they bought her along but they didnt stay for very long as my niece has a virus so wasnt as happy as she usually is and was tired.
I'm off to get some lunch now, back on the SW bandwagon as now we've been food shopping we actually have fruit and veg etc, the other night when OH was at work I had half a tin of salmon for dinner because I was too lazy to make anything and its all we really had :rotfl:
Hope you all have a good week.0 -
Back from the GP, total waste of time. OH didn't come with me in the end, but still only talked about my hearing issue, which was completely pointless. He was a locum doctor, and doesn't know much about hearing, he didn't have a letter from ENT to refer to, so told me to just call ENT directly and go through the options.
Got home, called ENT at local hospital, ive been discharged from there so I need to get a gp referral to go back!!!! There hasn't been a letter sent because i've been discharged and there's a 9 week backlog on the admin. So got to wait until November to get the letter, then start from square one!!!! I have no idea why ive been discharged, if the doctor had explained things properly in th first place I could have decided what to do, but he just said 'need to have surgery' with no explanation of what sort, when, how long I have to decide, and because I didn't say yes straight away hes scrubbed me off the list even though he told me to let them know if I do decide to proceed!!!
So frustrating.0 -
How annoying about ENT - can the GP refer you back without the discharge letter from the hospital?
Sorry that you're still feeling low. Can you book another appointment with a GP that you know?
