I finally slept through for 8 hours so Friday I had my head on the right way round lol

Just as well as a stream of friends popped in to claim and pay for things. We also had people coming for collections free and paid that we had advertised.

I went out for tea at three (a monthly get together with three lovely ladies we usually do at each other's homes calm proper afternoon tea and usually nibbles and bubbles to start) due to all of us stressed we said let's go out to a new local place which gave great promise but was ghastly, loud music screaming kids, sticky tables and surly staff so we all went back to friends and had a glass of wine and a natter in peace.

Annoyingly OH didn't hear door for a collection so a delivery will have to be done this morning.
But he is forgiven as he boxed up the xbox and that has been listed. I said take it with us (fingers crossed behind my back) but he said it's time for it to go!

Still eating out of freezer and cupboards but a little fresh stuff may be needed soon. Not sure we will get through the stock cupboard of cleaning stuff toilet rolls and shampoos etc lol

It stepsons clearing day today which will probably mean another tip run and more stuff to give away as he has little room to take much.
Lots more paid and free collections to happen today so the pot is growing.

The weirdest thing is the pile of 'stuff' to go with us really isn't much yet. We really can live without so much it's a shocker CDs all on the cloud now, books all on kindle. Clothes are only what we love and wear. A few ornaments we really like and a couple of pictures that make us smile. Photos are scanned in and the contents of the filing cabinet have nearly all been shredded as non of it is really needed.

Potentially 4 weeks until we fly one way ;-)

Thanks Suki and Goldiegirl we are really excited as it's beginning to feel real. The house is a tip every room has boxes or piles of bits to be sorted. We haven't really been out together except to the tip lol but we haven't fallen out completely yet although biting tongues has occasionally had to take place!!

The weather in Cyprus is picking up after the unusually bad first two weeks of January but February is the rainy month so it will get a little worse before the steady climb to summer.

Thanks for reading my rambling xx

I'm still reading Mint I think posts disappear too. I also find stuff posted at 10pm is not there at gone midnight and then next morning, on some threads, there are a dozen posts from the night before. It makes it difficult to keep up.

    Thanks NurseMaggie.
Well SS didn't turn up he had a hangover. Re booked for tomorrow.

Today we had beds being dismantled, garden furniture in pieces and people coming and going everywhere. Some bits delivered and plenty collected so a little more in the pot so we can buy a treat for our new hone ;-)

We did pass on loads to a lady who came to buy something as she is fundraising for her poorly son. It helped us and her so we are happy.

Finally got to the tip again so once again we are tidy (ish) then we decided to have a wander around Bluewater and dinner at Jamies Italian. £10 voucher from Jamie from Christmas and then a mess up with service meant it was good value and a couple of hours rest was good and we really enjoyed a natter about the future etc.

I did get a couple of bras some flip flops and a sun dress and OH a shirt and sweatshirt but again using vouchers from Christmas it wasn't so bad.

More sales requests while out so tomorrow will be busy again with collections.

Another early night as I keep waking up at 6am which is so annoying.

    Night all xx

SS arrived and did get on with clearance but I am not sure how his landlady viewed the extra boxes lol

Plenty for tip and charity so once we have had another forage in the garage of doom we will do that on the way to a quick Aldi shop for fresh bits. Nothing is going into freezer or cupboards at all!!

We think we have reached tipping point as we are starting to see big spaces clearing and today we have the dining room and bedroom big wooden furniture being collected along with loads of smaller pieces.

No mirror to dry hair and suit case on the floor in bedroom now so we must be getting closer.

We have one completely empty bedroom so that's where all things going with us are being moved to so they don't get lost or sold by mistake etc

With garden and loft finished we now have to work on the garage as it's still half full and most of it will probably go to the tip but OH will agonise over every screw.

It's hopeful we will get a date this week then I can start doing the necessary letting people know and cancelling everything.

Lasagne from stores yesterday. I went to make cheese sauce and panicked as I had no flour but I found a box of cornflower and decided that would have to do and it worked I just made sure plenty of cheese to mask the taste.

Today I will freezer inventory to try and work out best use of stocks into meals that go together and what fresh I need to help out.

Also need to check out wine and beer etc in garage eeeekkkkkkk

I can almost feel the sun lol

I am in awe at how much you are achieving!

The visit to Bluewater was a nice break though. There's something curiously relaxing about mooching round Bluewater. I don't need to buy much when I go, just having a coffee and cake, and watching other people buying is fine!

Thank you GG sometimes I feel we are stalling but everyday we are seeing some kind of movement however small.
I have to remind myself we only arrived back on the 16th and the reward of being in our place soon is worth it.

We were not going to do this until 2020 but with OH being ten years older than me we decided that we wanted to get the most out of the next ten years and we are in the position if we sold the house and cleared the mortgages on both properties we could do it now. We won't be rich but we will be able to do so much together.
Old style will definitely be the way to go in the main and our activities will be free with the sea and the mountains right on our doorstep. Gym and swimming pools on our site are free and the lifestyle is very relaxing.

I agree Bluewater is a great place for just having a mooch and a coffee usually John Lewis free ones with cake when we get vouchers or we use our waitrose cards and get a free drink in the food hall.

Monday saw big furniture go out the door so no bedroom left except bed luckily we have fitted wardrobes lol
Dining room empty now as well.

We did manage the garage, well some of it and filled the car and again went to the tip it's quite cathartic and not one bit of sell or give away or tip has bothered me at all but I do have a couple of boxes that I know are going to hurt as they contain memories of my children who sadly I am estranged from.

I finally had to succumb to an Aldi shop but only a packet of peas went in the freezer and I bought just fresh bits for fridge to get us over a few days.

Tuesday we again went into the garage and we can see the end. I also have started on the kitchen oh my goodness I thought I was good about checking dates but it's surprising where the years go!!!

We have had some people trying it on with things we are selling or getting very grabby with what they can get for free so that was a bit upsetting yesterday but on the whole everyone has been very grateful and have wished us well.

Two classes at the gym today and then a visit with friend to help her with some bits at her mums house who is moving closer to friend since she (mum) had a stroke. She has recovered well and has managed to get a flat right across the road to friend.

I need a break from house as I am getting very tired and apparently ratty as I can't sleep hence the time so maybe a coffee stop as well will be good.

Other friend that is trying to emigrate has finally completed on her house and now just has to wait for New Zealand house to release her passport and visa once her house sale money hits her bank in New Zealand and then she can book a flight. It's taken far longer than it should have done but the last hurdle is now out of the way bless her.

We were warned this week would be a quiet one solicitors wise but I keep checking the online progress hoping that the other side have sent queries and potential dates but nothing yet. We know it's going to be quick once that comes through so we are making sure we are as ready as possible this week clearing wise so that next week we can concentrate on address changing and account closing stuff etc.

Awake at 2.45 and it's now 5.15 so I don't think I am going to get any sleep now but an hour of Holby City might help me unwind a bit.

One good thing being so busy clearing the house etc no spending is happening ;-)

  • Hello there!
Nearly didn't have the pleasure of reading your lovely journal (and I mean ALL of it, today!!) as thought it was just a thread about the cooking requests in your original post.
So glad I carried on reading. It's been a lot more enjoyable than a book I started recently! Also, you have given me a No Spend Day, as I couldn't tear myself away, so thank you.
How exciting for you, bet you can't wait, fingers crossed for the 23rd Feb then.
I am subscribing to your thread now so will keep up. Maybe the moderators could pop in to the "diary" section?
enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I must get on with my errands now....

Thank you Asparagus I will be a lot more about old style food and housekeeping when we finally get there but maybe I can also diary our adventures alongside the boring stuff lol.

Can't believe you have read it all but actually it's the sort of thing I do and I have been following peoples diaries for ages.

    Glad for the nsd

Well today went fine collections all done and we have invited people to help themselves to some other bits which means girl guides, a disabled child's charity and a mum and kids fleeing domestic abuse have all had extra help today.

Tip trip was quick and efficient for the stuff just not able to recycle.

Drinking champagne now as we have to get through it lol

    Xx
