Thursday was a lovely bright day so managed to go all day with only two layers on lol
Planted a new cactus which was donated to us and caught up with a few outstanding jobs.
We realised early on that the fridge wasn't cold and possibly has stopped working when we had the power problem, we just hadn't noticed. Technician called who speaks no English but with sign language he inferred that a different technician would come Friday from Nicosia. Said to OH offer a payment for their time petrol etc only to go back into the kitchen to find chap emptying the fridge! They then proceeded to attempt to get it through the back door....... It now has another dink in it as the door is too small. Then they reverse back in and took it through lounge dripping water out through the patio doors. Thank heaven for stone floors etc. It's now been kidnapped and we think it's coming back today but can't be certain.
Thursday is ramble day so after a quick lunch and taking a little gift to a local child who is one we set of in the car where it proceeded to spit with rain but that cleared and we did a lovely circular walk on the coastal headlands. Back for soup and drinks and said our goodbyes after collecting post to take to uk for people.
Local restaurant for dinner with the neighbours and home to bed.
Today is clear up day and we leave the villa at 4 to go to the airport. Hopefully the fridge freezer is back before we go !
Empty cases for our return apart from a few clothes so packing is easy lol
OH has a meeting with site maintenance co this morning so I will get ironing done while waiting in. Flying BA so at least we get food drinks and tv on the flight.
See you in the UK xLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

Have a good flight Mint. I hope this buyer sticks it would be good if you can clear everything up this trip.
At least the freezer problem has made you realise you need the Turkish you are learning.0 -
Freezer re appeared at 9.30 all fixed. We sat in the sun instead of packing up but that's fine we just had a bit of a rush in the end, journey home to uk was fine but very tired today.
All paperwork sent of to the solicitors and estate agents questions replied to.
Music magpie for cd and DVD sales and also two cd racks sold on local facebay. We have said we will post something for sale everyday and also do a cupboard at the very least either for sale charity or freecycle then clean said cupboard or whatever. I will not get overwhelmed but it's going to be a tense few weeks if we are to clear our house as we will be taking very little with us as we already have a home out in Cyprus with all the basics.
Shopping done and must remember not to take OH as he helps!! No buying any store stuff and I even remembered to use stock of basic shampoo when mine ran out today.
We have an endowment policy that we want to trade in so OH will be calling to see what the redemption value is tomorrow.
Used up vouchers today for a local theatre and pulled together all other vouchers so we can use them up before we go.
Decisions over which bank account to keep or close and which telephone contracts can be stopped are also under discussion.
Xbox Is going for sale so OH is getting his last fix tonight. I have said take it but he says no it's going which I am happy with as it drives me mad either hearing the same phrases repeated over and over or he has his earphones in so can't hear me.
Lost a post but not sure the was anything more interesting in it lolLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

Sunday was manic we went to the loft and brought down all the kids boxes and they have promised to come this week and sort take or chuck. Not sure they have realistic awareness of how much there is but by the weekend that side of it will be done and we will probably have loads to take to tip, throw or sell.
Our good friend has agreed to be our postal address and we went to hers for a coffee and OH fixed her laptop as well. She also asked to buy our spare fridge freezer so that's that gone.
The afternoon was spent listing bits on local freebay site with some given away and some sales.
Amazing that we are offering things free to good homes and they ask to have it delivered etc!!! We may just charity shop the give aways now as we really need to not waste time.
Seems like a whirlwind has gone through the house and the hall and spare room have piles of bits ready for collection. It doesn't make much of a dent yet but onwards and we will get there.
No spends and food from stores which is great.
Today I think we will get the rest of the loft cleared and then we can say done to that area. Lots for the tip I think so we will grab anything obvious from garage and make a full car load.
Lists of who to contact re change of address are underway and filing cabinet is getting thinner as we are trying to sort that at the same time as we are looking for things.
Paperwork has all arrived at the solicitors which is good as they can start the process.
These next few weeks are going to be intense so we have booked a couple of weekends activities and visiting to give us a break and also a chance to say goodbye to people.
Apparently the weather has picked up in Cyprus since we left which is great news and makes us all the more determined to get there soon.Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

We are using an online conveyancer and they are fast. A phone call yesterday to query a couple of things on our paperwork received and they have already got redemption figures on mortgages, title deeds and have prepared contracts etc.
More papers will arrive today so that's a priority. Asking them about buyers wanting done by 15/2 they said shouldn't be a problem if all straight forward!!
Buyers surveyor came yesterday and said minor things for the age of house but nothing to detract from price or that will cause delay.
More sales and collections yesterday. The loft is done and I have started my cupboard a day albeit only bathroom cabinets. Why do we keep so much c**p?
Lunch with a friend to say bye so £4 spent but I walked to save petrol. OH filled the tank and we are going to try and make that last.
My friend who was trying to emigrate has finally exchanged on house and completes Monday which is fab news for her it's all been a nightmare.
Zumba and elastix Pilates this morning as my gym year ends 19/2 I have really had my money's worth as it was 14 months for 12 paid in advance plus I could suspend when I went away which is about 5 months I think so 19 months ish for 12 months fee and I have been two or three times every week on average.
This afternoon will be a trial stepdaughter coming to sort her stuff and staying for dinner. She is not logical so it will be hard work as well as guilt ridden not that we see her often but I may have to bite my lip. Mind you she was at a special gifting event for the national television awards the other night so it's a bit of a come down to normal home life being asked to decide what to do with your things from school and a big bag of cuddly toys ;-)
Old style is mostly use up not buy at the moment. Freezer to eat cupboards to eat but the mixture on the plate may get a bit weird lol
We have more than enough cleaning products and toilet rolls etc to see us through.
If anyone is reading, my thanks to you as being able to record our journey is therapeutic xxxLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

I'm reading
Found this thread just before Christmas and have really enjoyed reading your journey. Such exciting times for you. I only moved 500 miles to Northern Ireland but that too was a new country for me. And yes I had to learn the lingo ( ok so more dialect then a language lol )as well and get used to not being able to buy what I wanted on my doorstep. As well as get used to the cold, the power cuts, laying a fire etc etc. Having been born and bred a Londoner ,moving to the middle of the country was a huge change of life. But I love it now and wouldn't go back
Lucky you to be moving to N.Cyprus. Exciting times x0 -
Wow, things are moving very fast. If it all completes in February that'll be fantastic !:jEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Either I am imagining it or posts are going missing after I have posted them I am sure I did one this morning.
Well we got through stepdaughter clearance and she was pretty good but a whole car load had to go to the tip or charity shop but it's all done.
OH has sold the bike and the paraphanelia that goes with so very impressed. I do feel for him it was a beautiful bike. Just need to cancel the insurance tomorrow and that's that done.
We spent an hour in the garage today which was freezing and yet another car load went to the tip. It's quite scary when you think of all the Money spent to fill said garage in the first place!!!!! Definitely never buying 'stuff' again.
Brother collected a tv and unit so a bit more space and we listed a few things on the local sale site and already have takers so a bit more done.
Solicitors rang and said all done our end it's now up to the buyers solicitors now so we wait.
Went to the gym again this morning and boy do I ache tonight. So early bed and watch Last Tango in Halifax but I think I may well be asleep very quickly.
We have been back just a week and it seems we have moved mountains but it will all be worth it in the end.Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j
