Well done, lovely to meet you and...
Cheers!LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Well we realised last night we would either have to give away or drink our champagne stash!!!!
One bottle down last night while sifting paperwork lol
Logistics for our last few days being planned as more dinners and drinks are being added to the list which is lovely. Potentially we won't have a house from the 18/2 so 5 nights sofa surfing will be fun.
OH has dealt with two of his three tasks, the motorbike and xbox but he still needs to deal with endowment poilicy so that's his task for Monday.
We have been back two weeks now and it feels like forever since we sat in the sun, the weather here in Kent is freezing and we even had flurries of snow yesterday.
Bought birthday cards for the first few months and will leave them stamped for a friend to post on appropriate days while we work out a plan as there isn't a good postal service out there. Definitely we are not giving our full address so no one sends anything as apparently not a lot of post gets through so I don't want people wasting money. In fact now may be the time to knock traditional cards on the head completely. And Xmas gifts ;-)
We have a huge double cupboard built in on the stairs which is called the office and that is my mission today to clear it I may be a while.
Thank you for reading my rambling and staying with me on my journey xx
A special thank you to Anne Marie who I may get to meet at the other end if she doesn't think I am a complete lunatic lolLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

No problem Mint, and thank you very much for those kind words. As for being a lunatic, not at all, but I think that you'll find that it helps out here! :rotfl: Am sure we will meet up at some point when you get over.
Very windy here again just now, but the sun is out.
Get back to drinking and enjoying the champagne, you can't bring it with you, well, maybe a bottle each!0 -
Hi, well, what a problem to have- what to do with the champers
Maybe leave them to be given at birthdays?
I too have reduced the amount of cards over the last few years. And there are loads of sites that do e-cards for free too.
How did the office clearing go?
Really cold up here today, but sunny. Stuck the bedding out on the line for a few hours, and they were near enough dry by tea time. On the airer now to finish off (I don't have a tumble drier).
take care:)LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Office clearing is done with a box of filing to sort but has been picked at for rubbish so it fitted in one box. We still have two personal boxes to do but I think a bottle or two will be drunk to get through them.
More stuff collected yesterday and the money pot has reached my target and getting bigger lol. We are also gifting to charities so glad to help where we can.
We will be spending in small bits this week as I need to get rid of loads of change but every denomination is not enough to bag up for the bank so that will be fun lol I may go to the Tesco express self till !!
Fingers crossed some movement from buyers solicitors early this week will mean we can get dates sorted.
Getting stir crazy so going for a walk this morning with friend and then shopping. OH is getting his paperwork up to date then this afternoon we might use some cine world vouchers although he did say he wasn't feeling too good last night but maybe it's just being cooped up indoors.
Bright here but cold in Kent this morning but it's a new week and a new month so onwards.
This month we should move woo hoo !!!!!!Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

Well Monday was a little disappointing time wasters not showing up and nothing from solicitors or estate agents etc. It doesn't feel like an adventure at the moment just a slog and everywhere is a mess.
Friend and I went for a bracing walk around the island early morning and it was really biting wind down by the water so we walked inland a little and went via the doctor. Cholesterol test back and it's 5.5 but as I haven't taken any tablets since about October it's not so bad !!
The filing box is now complete with just a few papers that need dealing with and then clearing out before we go and nice new plastic envelopes of bits we have to keep.
We killed the shredder for good so a big box to take to friends for burning.
Two old credit cards which I haven't used in years and no post gets generated so I phoned to check they are closed and found they both had£1 something on each so donated to charity and closed them both properly.
We rang to surrender an old endowment poilicy and they wanted certified copies of passports for both of us. They had to be certified by a policeman who knows us not a chance, a vicar who knows us for more than two years even less of a chance or local politician again over two years. So we were stuck as we avoid them like the plague.
We had options of solicitors but they wanted £50 and a weeks wait, doctor wouldn't do it for two weeks and £40, courts do a clerk service at £25 each then we found out that post office do it £8.75 per name and you can have three documents certified for that price for one person so we got the ones we needed and two spares each. So that's gone of and we await a cheque.
We definitely have more dinners than days if all goes to plan as we keep being asked out to say goodbyes which is lovely.
We went to asda when parked for post office just for a few basics £8.43 OH was embarrassed that I went through the self serve tills and fed loads of very small change from the money jar into the machine whilst holding up the queue!! This was after I paid the post office man about £30 in total as I bought stamps as well as the certifying all in coins. He said never again when I told him I still have the ones and two's to get rid of. No denomination was big enough to bag and bank.
It's snowing here with a light covering everywhere so no gym today as I can't be bothered lol and we didn't make it to cinema yesterday due to no shows and time wasters so we may go this afternoon. I was really hoping the second marigold hotel would be on but it isn't out until the 23rd so I will have to wait until I am out there and get a DVD.
Keep warm and safe everyone xxLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

Our banks will still take coins even if it is not up to the total on the bag. Had to do this with our change jar when we did a temporary move to Germany and then the Netherlands for OH's work.
Coming back we discovered that banks in the Netherlands won't do this for "coppers" in any amount - goes to show everywhere is slightly different.0 -
Any charity will be glad of your small change Mint. Getting exciting now less than 3 weeks.
Last week DD paid for me a flight to Malta where they have a flat. Will be going in July. They work in Saudi Arabia.0 -
I have put all the foreign coins in a bag for the charity shop and the last of the shrapnel is gone lol
Maggie Malta is lovely I went quite a few years ago now but loved it.
The snow soon disappeared today but still very cold so I emptied the kitchen cupboards and washed them all out. The drawer of doom is no more and the charity shop will have a few more boxes of useful kitchen stuff.
Some bits collected this morning and our last tent sold on eBay and is being collected tomorrow.
Solicitor phoned to tell us the buyers solicitor has everything he needs back from the searches and will be sending queries Wednesday or Thursday to be dealt with so things are moving again.
I have decided the phrase let's sell up and have an adventure is as misleading as the weathers beautiful let's jump on the motorbike!!!
Selling everything is hard slog and brain churning making decisions
Jumping on a motorbike and just riding of just doesn't happen it takes an age to kit up properly
Both are great ideas and everyone thinks so easy lolLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j
