AOL is just one of TalkTalk's brands and you get through to the same call centres. The network is the same too - so the only real difference is the charges and what is available.

You have definitely got a great deal there with the free line rental.

I thought I was getting a good deal at £7.25 per month for Essentials and Fibre (+ line rental), but will need to try for free line rental when my renewal is due !
Been making some enquirers, been with talktalk for year paying over the odd for phone and standard broadband.
New officer would be package for 12 months £23.95 with Fibre after that £25.97 for 6 months, evening and weekends calls free, not sure what essentials are did not discuss is this a good deal or not :T
  • I have an Old AOL account and have been told the £5 rise for Unlimited Broadband and Anytime calls will rise to £12.20 a month. My Line rental is still with BT.

As I have been on such a good deal before (£7.20) I have not looked elsewhere but at £12.20 it still seems value despite the £5 rise.

IS IT A GOOD PRICE ?

I would appreciate any comments - Thanks

    hiya,
what have you decided to do? I am the same here, I have just phoned to see what they can offer me but the best was 3 months free BB...
    or......
they tried to get me to have line rental with them for 12 months and it would be half price so £8.25...and BB would be £2 a month on top....
but for some reason, I would like to keep my line rental with BT..
if it aint broke, don't fix it... in other words, my aol service has been ok and I cant be bothered to faff.. I just would like a better deal
yes, I know I am crazy..........

Just been on the phone to TT. They first came up with £25.35 LR+BB+calls then best offer of 18 month contract with prices for 12 months of £7.25 BB & calls + up front line rental of £172.20 = £21.60 pm. Of course at the end of the 12 months they could up the price to whatever they want for the final 6 months.

Bye Bye TT, hello PlusNet, I will have another router for my collection for £5.99.

Looks like the phone is now a change every year thing just like insurances and energy.

    Hi all

I too am looking to change from TT to BT (to take advantage of Sport and National Wi-fi), I have today received my notification from TT that my price plan is going up - is there a time limit that I must inform them that I am not happy with the price increase and am exercising my right to change provider at no cost?
Or if I stay with them while I look around at deals, is there a time that it is assumed that I have accepted the price increase and thus incur charges when I move provider?

Hopefully that makes sense and someone can help.

    Cheers

I believe you have 30 days from the date of the notification in which to give them notice that you want to leave (without penalty).

I signed up to Plusnet on the 12th Nov, but wanted to pay by DD, the DD has been set-up for 5 days now (14th), but no funds have been taken for the first payment.

    Thus no date yet :(

So I guess I am waiting on their finance department to get their act together. :( Wanted to pay the 12 months rental up front using DD as I get 3% cash back from Sant 123 current account.

I know I could make it faster by paying the first payment by debit card, but I like the thought of 3% cash back. It's about £5...

So still waiting on PlusNet..... not quick for me :(
  • Just come off the phone with TT. They notified me that my plus phone and broadband was going up to £18.50...contract runs out dec. First call, asked for MAC code...woman said I did not need it and did not offer me any discount or incentive to stay??? Thought about it and rang back again (another operator) and said I could not understand why they were so keen to lose a customer...she asked what the competitor was offering and I ended up with £40 refund of difference in upfront line rental (compared with EE), half price plus phone and broadband £9.25month, less a further £2 discount, and a twelve month contract ..total savings £185 ! RESULT!!

That is fantastic - I've always found TalkTalk to be very good with offering discounts to keep you as a customer.
