And lastly, tours. I think I found some of the cheapest options for tours. We booked with Bus Travel Iceland http://www.bustravel.is
A brilliant 8 hour tour to waterfalls and geysers set us back £36 each. Most other companies will charge you at least £45-50 if not more.
Of course you can hire a car and explore some of these places yourselves. When we go back my mate has offered to drive so I'll be looking into prices soonish.
Also, if you go whale watching, book direct with Elding if you can. Our tour was £42 which again was reasonable compared to other companies. Sadly we didn't see anything on our tour but were given a complimentary ticket to return next time and try again.
Cheap activities in Reykjavik- you can get into the cathedral in the centre of town for free. To go up to the top for the best views it's about £4. We also went to the 'male chicken' museum which I'd definitely recommend if you fancy a giggle and don't mind looking at a bunch of male chickens! It's about £6 each to get in.
I believe you can also do free or very cheap walking tours. We saw a few around the city.
It is possible to be MSE in Iceland.
I would have spent a lot less if I didn't want to buy plenty of gifts and so on for family or if I hadn't done the tours. But they were wonderful so well worth it IMHO. We didn't meet a single rude Icelandic person and I've never been to such a warm, patient, welcoming country. Giant thumbs up for the beautiful place!!
Thanks for all the very useful info Emma. Glad you had a fab time.“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.” ~ Ferris Bueller0 -

Thank's for the trip reports & photos Emmap. Sounds Amazing. :j
I have always been a "must go somewhere HOT for my holliday" type of person as I love the sun BUT my OH & his friend went to Iceland last year and when I started looking into it I really liked the sound of it?
My OH went to that place where they serve soup in bread too and they went whale watching with Elding too .
They were lucky enough to see Humpback whales right next to the boat. OMG I was/am so jealous! I really want to go to Iceland one day when circumstances allow.:D"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."

Sounds great EMMAP, glad you had a good time. Its somewhere I really fancy going.
Flipping Argos. I know I should love them after the 20% glitch, but they've really messed up a subsequent order.
Ordered 3 lego sets on the 3 for 2 offer. Supposed to arrive Monday, so I waited in all day but they didn't arrive. They arrived on Tuesday, but one set was missing. Called up, their systems were down!
Phoned Wednesday morning, woman was really nice and let me choose any other toy up to a slightly higher value. However, every set at that price was out of stock for home delivery, and not instock at my local stores. She then let me pick 2 cheaper sets that added up to a bit more, and put them down for delivery Friday.
Yesterday evening 2 parcels turn up. In the first parcel is 2 random toys that I didn't order. In the second parcel is one of the lego sets, and another random toy. Phone Argos AGAIN, they are going to send out the other lego set for delivery Monday, and collect the random items, but it means another day of waiting in. Arghhhhhhh!0 -
