Advice please - damaged my car on a speed hump :(

Thanks for the replies.

To clarify a few things. The car is 100% standard in factory specification. Completely unmodified.
When I first drove into the park, I drove along the left side of the road. I don't drive in the middle of roads. I had no issues on route in.
The roadway, although partly designated for pedestrians, is only usable as a 2 way road if a car uses that section which is marked for pedestrian walkway. Otherwise, it would be a nightmare with cars constantly reversing for oncoming cars. The road is wide enough for 2 cars to pass and the way it has been done points to that being the intended design, or it would have been a raised kerb and pathway for pedestrians surely.

If the car was modified, and I have done so with cars before, then I'd not have posted at all, but it's totally standard and the issue has only come about as a result of the road being lower on the exit side of the hump near the kerb.

You say you have photos. Can you post one showing the markings and where your car hit?

At the end of the day if you have an abnormally low car (it may be legal, but it is not normal), if you choose to drive on a private road, then you need to check whether the road is suitable. If not, don't.

Nothing says it's a no car area. 2 cars can pass easily along the roadway without issue, except where the hump is, as moving over to allow room means encountering the road drop off on the exit side of the hump.

It's not abnormally low. BMW sold over 500,000 of them

Did you take any measurements or have a photo with a scale on it?
