The Samsung local service centre handed me back a completely functioning phone. It cost me nothing! I would recommend going that route over trying to use the Tesco mobile repair "service" centre.

Might be worth writing to Tesco or pinging them on social media to see what their response is.

I wonder how many other people they do that to, and they end up getting a new phone.

Can you explain this? Had iPhone 5c since may, stopped working just kept saying 'searching', tried restore nothing. Sent to Tesco for repair, three weeks later no contact from Tesco, rang and was told that I had been sent three texts regarding phone. These had been sent to my number, which was in for repair and I had no other phone. Told phone was water damaged so not under warranty. Could either have phone back in non working state or pay 185 for return. Decided to have phone back and get second opinion as it hadn't been near water. Took to genius bar in apple store, they investigated and said error on the logic board and gave me a new phone. No charge as under warranty and obviously no water damage! Your view on this please.
