Hi can I join the challenge please?

I had a very spendy weekend so will be starting my NSDs today.
    My plan is:

Food: £20 (just for me, the cupboards are already well stocked so I'll eat out of them for as long as possible, then try and buy only value items from Mr T).

Travel: £30/70 (Covers coach/train/bus fares when travelling back to see family and friends in Bristol)

Exercise: I will go for 2 runs every week, for at least 15 mins each time.

Outings: £50/125 (Went for a meal on Saturday night plus was out for drinks yesterday. My next social events will be going round to friends houses to make it a lot cheaper!)

Personal: I will meditate twice a day, morning and evening. I also am trying to cut down on alcohol as I have a habit of binge drinking at the weekends!

Good luck everyone else, looking forward to this :)

  • Ahoy there shipmates!

I am revising my SFD's. I said I had a spendy day on Monday for my shopping. I ordered it online then, to be delivered today. Then yesterday I added some items to the order as I remembered them. My train of thought for the first spend day, seems to apply again for the revision of the shopping. However, the stuff isn't being delivered until today. I won't know what it cost 100% until I get it this evening. So I would like to make today my spendy day, and leave the other 2 days where no money was actually spent and no goods received as SFD's. Is that ok?

Today I have also handed over £1 for photos which has been sat on the side waiting for Jellytots 1st day back at Nursery, and got my proofs to choose from. I could spend a fortune. But I think £28 will get me everything I want for gifts, home etc.

Bought £1 4 pints of milk as ran out last night. Bad planning, as 6 pints being delivered this evening, but in laws here and drink tea like it is going out of fashion.

Have worked out my total annual spends. I've got, Line rental saver, contents insurance, Christmas & Birthdays in. No car thank goodness, and other spends such as prescriptions and optical/dental/osteopath etc covered by works cash plan. So my total to aim for is £800 over the year. £66.67 per month. Luckily for me, Christmas and 2014 Birthdays are all done. Just about £50 left of Christmas presents and I am done for this year. Will still be saving up for next year though!

Stewby  at the honey! I know it is a labour intensive area and honey in the supermarkets is quite expensive if you go for anything other than the usual runny honey non-branded but still... I hate that uncomfortable feeling when you feel like you can't back out of a purchase. I once bought some YSL 'nude' nail varnish. £16.50. I nearly fell over but the assistant was so pushy and I just bought it. Never again. It looked awful on. Have never worn it since.

Glad everyone has had a good weekend. I got drowned this morning taking Jellytot to nursery and will be getting drowned again in about 15 minutes fetching her back. :(

Hi everyone :) Glad to be working from home today-the weather's horrid  Well I bought the little fella a bike for christmas as his current one is way to small for him. It's his christmas present, so that along with his glitch cars from argoos last month, is him ticked off :T The family are not coming to christmas after all. My brother is off on holiday, mum sounded really hesitant -is my cooking that bad :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:so I thought, I don't want anyone obligated, so it will be just me and the kids :) Thanks Thrifty for alerting us to the extra days in December :T Well I've spent £69.99 ex has gone halves so 35.00 from my pocket. So two more main presents to go :T I will exercise in a bit and that should be me done. Today I am thankful, for just feeling a sense of contentment with myself and what I have :) Have a good day everyone!

    Ahoy there.

Today is going to be a sfd making it 3 in a row.

Just looked at lidl offers tempted to go and get some Lurpak butter but I had enough in for now. Not losing a sfd for that. Now it has gone cold may have to get some more hay tomorrow for bunnykins.

Paid more off my credit card so I am now under 6300 today. Need a few more xmas pressies tho.

Going to be such a tight month this one. Restless already !

First thing to do is join slimming world tonight with my daughter, both of us has quite a bit to lose and I've got debts I want rid of asap but probably very long term if I don't batten the hatches tight.

£100 for paying fares for hospital visiting.
For me-- Loose weight. Been to Slimming World before with fairly good results but the consultant that is here now isn't very inspiring. Got a lot of books,so going it alone.
My daughter is getting married in May of next year so I want to gain £'s and loose lbs. Not the other way round.

  • Evening all... and welcome to newbies :D

Good day today although a spendy one! All budgeted for of course :) . Spent £65 of my £100 allocated for christmas in primark (which is something I really loathe). If I had my way I'd do all my shopping online and never venture near the town! I did walk there and back so that's a plus.

OH went to buy fresh veg for dinner but that's out of the shopping money jar so no extra spend. He's now settled in the kitchen making a yummy dinner by the smell of it.

Am trying to cut down on my food consumption but not doing very well so far.... I do wish there was more that I didn't like, it'd be easier then I'm sure.

No further on the study or the bookkeeping :(

I have done some looking around at what the family centre nearby is doing so will update at some point on that.

    And that's it!

Hope you all remain dry.... it's choppy out there

Well bounding through today and it's not over yet. Threw the curry together and left the freezer to defrost. Phoned to accept operation date.

Buy house man was a lot nicer than I expected and I seemed to have got the value of the house about right (less than I bought it for but back to within £10K). Them buying direct from me wasn't the right option for me as I have done all the work and the bailiffs aren't knocking at my door.

I gasped appropriately when he said the buy it off you firms would knock 30% off market value (although this wasn't as bad as the pessimistic figures I did at weekend). However they have another option which is for them to sell it quick for you, at a flat fee So The House IS Up For Sale. This may or may not be the right decision (there is a cooling off period) but the minimum they would recommend selling at is what I offered it to mr and mrs builder earlier in the year and is likely to be much nearer the price I want.

Good news on the old house too. Next door was most recently sold at £58,000 and he said that 2 bed terraces were available locally for about £50,000 but because of the work I have put in (big bedroom upstairs includes former landing space and radiators/ lights and a funnel skylight means it could easily be divided into two bedrooms) I could be asking for around mid 60s for that. Someone will contact me about that at end of January so will see how things go.

Stayed in town centre for a while. Signed up for library home delivery service (probably okay to walk to the library but not sure about carrying books) and notified change of address. Took down meter readings and have sent supplier a long e-mail (should be due money back but don't know if it will be in this bill or next month).

Paid the cash (miserly amount) that DS2 gave me into DS3's account (since DS2 has still not returned my bank card). If DS3 gets money from paypal he will pay money across to my account.

Bought a meal deal for dinner (sorry but cannot drink more diet decaff cola) and meal deal is cheaper for orange juice than SM (wouldn't have time to finish a carton before I go in hospital and as one fridge is off and the other is going to be turned off, no where to keep it). Also bought 'travel pack' of tissues (least waste -use hankies normally) and white choc snowmen for DS3. Ate outside on a bench.

Spent £4.50 on two full length skirts to wear after the op (£4.50 in cs) bringing my clothes spending for the year to £36.98. Also bought tree small cyclamen at £1 each - 1 is for mum on Friday (my brother always bought her flowers at Christmas, I've taken over since he died but usually buy a plant that can go in the garden afterwards).

Every time I go downstairs I take something with me. Just untangled best dolly truck (I have two - but this is only the second time I have had a van when moving, the first three were done on foot) from the shed. Have bags, boxes and crates will alternate standing and sitting jobs and play on here in between. DS3 came down to get curry and I opened a bag and got him to reach the things on the top shelf.

Today I am grateful for the sunshine (definitely chilly as I have to keep warming the door key to make it turn), for helpful librarians and being able to move (although limited in many ways).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
