Just to be very clear. You are asking for a full refund of the sea view supplement of £12 per night NOT the ridiculous thought you might be expecting a full refund of the entire holiday (which is how it could be taken)

    Right ?

Your post implies that the entire holiday (it isn't a second honeymoon just because you had a first honeymoon last year) was "ruined" due to lack of "romance" because the ,judging by the excellent reviews this otherwise first class, hotel failed to supply a room with a view of the sea. You may have ruined it for yourselves by your inability to enjoy "romance" without a seaview in your eyeline whenever you were having sex and if you can prove that to the satisfaction of a court (would probably need documentary evidence -not sure how you'd get that tbh) then you *might* get something for "loss of enjoyment" but nothing like a full refund on a holiday cost but possibly the seaview supplement back plus a little something for goodwill.

The court will try to put you back to the position you were in -so as you still used the flights, used the facilities of the hotel, ate at the hotel and appear to have no complaint about of of these elements of the package then it would be hard to justify a full refund but a refund of the supplement would be appropriate.

    Hi,

I have emailed back saying my case is not closed, it is just not good enough and I want a full refund, I could not see any water what so ever myself there for I was not providing with what I paid for.

Has anyone had previous experience with anything like this or have any advise please?

To go off topic, I've always questioned the value of paying for sea views. Whilst honeymoons may be slightly different I've never found I tend to spend much time in the hotel bedroom so not been too bothered about what the room looks out onto other than for any night time noise.

    .

    I agree with this too.
Especially in large complex hotels where just by the sheer size of the property the views will be vastly variable it often isn't worth it but in smaller hotels right on the sea it can be.

If I had to choose between a sea view room with a hike to all the other facilities or an OK inland view but close to everything- especially in the heat-it's a bit of a no brainer for me.

  • At that price I would have had steam coming out of my ears if I got that view

To be honest I'd never, ever, pay for a sea view room, although I may request one when booking, but that would be at no extra cost to me. If I'm not happy with my room I will ask the hotel if I can change rooms, again at no extra cost to myself.

I do hope that you get something sorted out with First Choice, but whatever happens at least you'll never fall for that again. Also you can review the hotel on TripAdvisor & mention this, I don't book anything without TripAdvisoring first.

A full refund of the additional money paid for the view, I also see no referral on my part to this being a second honeymoon so you can put that snarky comment right back up your backside where it came from.

I also did not post that the holiday was anywhere near ruined so again stop pulling these comments from your crevice.

We did not ruin anything for ourselves, we had a wonderful time, we are just standing up for that being classes as a sea view and especially for the extra money the charged us for it.

To be honest I wasn't seeing any sea at all in the pic, I thought it could have been some hills in the distance.

That's really not a very nice view. I'd have complained to reception more persistently though. However, I still think you have a case as it's really not a premium view worth paying £300 extra for! Keep on at them. Let us know how you get on.

I have now posted them a letter so we will see how that goes, as you said it would of been the ideal opportunity to sort it all out at the time in the hotel but the hotel themselves are not First Choice and agreed themselves it was not a sea view room and we did not want to waste anymore of our holiday on this matter so took it up on arrival home, the hotel themselves were lovely!

Exactly our reaction, I actually forgot how pathetic it was until I looked at the picture again to print it off and it got me steaming all over again!

We will certainly not again after this experience, I do check TA and have a general Google about before booking any place but did not think a view would be an issue, I was wrong!

I also see no referral on my part to this being a second honeymoon

Quote from your first post... we thought why not as it was our 2nd wedding anniversary

Quote from your post number 10..... nice for our anniversary

Perhaps it would be a very good idea if you bothered to read through just what you put on the threads before having a go at people that state what you have put.
OK you are not happy with what you got. The holiday is over and unless you are very lucky {that I would doubt} the only offer you will get {as I have said before} will be vouchers to the value of xyz that will need to be used off another FC holiday and normally within a year, so if that happens I would start looking for the next hotel but do check before you go that if you book a room with a sea view it is to your liking and that you will be able to see it BEFORE you leave the UK or in the next 12 months you will be back on here going over the same ground {and getting the same replies} that you have this time.

I'm not having a go at people, I do not put such emotion in to web board messages, yes it says anniversary twice... because that's exactly what it was, the honeymoon quote was mentioned by another user whom I replied to above.
