I'm going for £336.jumperabv3 wrote: »Can I ask how much was this charge?two week holiday in the Riviera Maya in Mexico back in September with First Choice, all was well apart from the supposed "sea view" room we booked, we paid an extra £12 per person per night
I had my own sea view experience 20 years ago. It was included as a free extra, but it really was a grey slither in the distance. Never pursued the option since as a result.
I'd give them one more go with a finishing note of "If I don't receive a full refund of what's due I will pursue this through the small claims court".
You might want to ask them how much extra they pay the hotel for that room. My guess is nil.0 -
Said "sea view" room.

Thank you, I will use that in my next correspondence with them if their reply is unsatisfactory, I've put the photo with the fragmented URL link to above.0 -

That is not a sea view and I would be fuming as well if i had paid extra .Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

But there is a sea view, regardless of whether you can personally see it or not.
While I would be incredibly annoyed as well, the t&c's do state that the view may be almost completely obscured. Keep pressing for a refund of the £336 - even as a travel voucher - as a gesture of goodwill but you have no legal right to get it back.0 -
Here's the link in full for others to use.

That's about the view I recall getting 20 years ago. Keep pushing them. You might not get £334 but you'll get an offer.
Out of interest, how tall is your husband and how tall are you?
If you don't have a view of the sea because of your height you don't have a sea view. I'd expect the small claims court to order full reimbursement. If not, at least the payment for the one person who couldn't see the ocean.callum9999 wrote: »But there is a sea view, regardless of whether you can personally see it or not.0 -

So you're only entitled to £168 then surely as it was only you who didnt have the sea view, your husband did.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Do you have anything from the hotel confirming it isnt a sea view room?
Do you have a photo from your point of view or when sitting on the balcony which doesnt have any sea in it? This would have been the better photo to use rather than arming them with a picture where the sea is just visible.
To go off topic, I've always questioned the value of paying for sea views. Whilst honeymoons may be slightly different I've never found I tend to spend much time in the hotel bedroom so not been too bothered about what the room looks out onto other than for any night time noise.
This did change for our august bank holiday break where we went to Crete and the hotel beach was poor but we had our own "private" pool on the balcony over looking the sea and we spent more time there (with cheap drinks from the local supermarket) than anywhere else.
Still not convinced its good value in most places though.0
