MSE News: MoneySavingExpert.com launches the 10 day big winter switch event

So how am I supposed to switch to E.ON MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Switch? If I log in to my CEC account, it doesn't appear in the "Big Winter Switch Event" section. It does appear in the "Full Market Comparison" section but it says there's no cashback and I have to do the switch manually. However, if I go to their website and get a quote, that tariff isn't listed.0

The Big Deal is a load of rubbish as you can only enter your spend per month rather than actual KW used.
Look again, you can put in kWh.
But the numbers on the CEC site are all over the place.
Firstly, when calculating my current spend, it switches me to the more expensive standard tariff after my current tariff ends in 02/15. This is NOT how you compare prices.
Secondly, even if this number was correct, it tells me I could save £229 (£894 - £705 = £189). It seems that one figure includes the yearly £40 DD rebate, the other one doesn't.
Lastly, on the E.ON website I get a £5 cheaper deal with the "Energy Fixed 1 v12" tariff. Without the cashback though, but this I could get when I switch trough another comparison site too.0 -
On the big deal site? Are you sure?

Yeah I don't like this either. For the last few months it's told me that switching from my current nPower deal to a more recent one will save me money. There is no standing charge on either account and the unit price for the newer tariff is higher. So, this conclusion is only reached because it assumes that I'll move to nPower's standard tariff once my current one runs out...which I wouldn't do.But the numbers on the CEC site are all over the place.

The way AER works for accounts that aren't available for at least a year similarly confuses things: my Nationwide Regular Saver ISA Issue 2 is 2.33% AER but is actually 2.59% gross, which is a more useful figure since I won't be leaving the money in their crappy standard ISA after April.
By the way, it seems that the cashback links for the E.ON account are working now. I'll have a go at switching tonight since it works out cheaper than even my existing fixed tariffs due to the £30 cashback and £20 dual fuel discount.0 -
I know you can only qualify for cashback once in a 12 month period with CEC. Does the 12 months start from when you instigate the switch or from when it is complete?
Many thanks if anybody knows the answer to this, I have searched the website but cannot find the answer. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
The issue is that in the Cheap Energy Club comparison, the £10 paperless discount for the v12 is not incorporated into the figures, but the £10 paperless discount is incorporated into the figures for the winter switch. Hence the comparison appears to be misleading. 1.792 x 0.01) + (16.422 x 365 x 0.01) – 20 - 10
Hi Snowman - thanks for your comments on this. We've now updated the tariff so that it defaults to show the offline version for both Eon tariffs - you can still select the online version on the application page to receive paperless billing discounts.0 -
Why would you not show the online version by default or include both options in the results list to allow a fair comparison?0
