Taking the story at face value, the dealer hasn't made any extra profit if he took the price paid for the pug off the price of the ford.
It's just as if the OP had bought the ford in the first place.0

He has profit on three cars.
He'll get profit on the O/P's trade in
He got profit on the 307
He got profit (and probably full price) for the Fiesta
He just needs to resell the 307 for the same price AND that sale may well generate another trade in so profit on that too.
A much better situation than having to do a refund or revert the whole deal.0

YepHe got profit on the 307
He did but he's refunded it. So what he has is a car he can sellHe got profit (and probably full price) for the Fiesta
More than likelyHe just needs to resell the 307 for the same price AND that sale may well generate another trade in so profit on that too.
Surely if he sold the 307 for a quid and refunded him a quid/took that off the Ford he's just got a car he can sell. His profit is in a completed deal isn't it?
Unless he is Tesco and counting his profit twice he's just going to make on the OP's trade in and the Fiesta. Plus it will cost him what ever to fix the Pug.A much better situation than having to do a refund or revert the whole deal.
More than likely but it seems like the OP brought up the subject of the other car. Reading his post he was talking over the refund that people spent four pages saying he wouldn't get....
As a result people are still having a go at the OP. I don't understand how any new people reading these sort of passive aggressive and willy waving threads even bother to post in this forum. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0

He didnt refund it - he took it as a trade in against the fiesta at the value he sold it at, so his profit on the 307 is intact. He just needs to get that price again and hes sold 3 cars at profit - the 307, the fiesta and the o/ps trade in. With a little more luck he'll get another trade in against the 307 to make more profit on.

He didnt get a refund - the trader took the 307 as a trade in against the fiesta and an extra £4,000 too.
 For talks sake :-
Dealer sells the 307 to the O/P for £3500 and makes £1500.
He gives the O/P £1000 for his own car and sells it for £1500.
 Theres £2000 profit so far.
He then sells the O/P a Fiesta for £7,500, takes the 307 in at £3,500 and has £2,000 profit on the Fiesta.
So now hes made £4,000 profit and he has the 307 back, standing him £3,500.
All he has to do is sell the 307 on for the same price - £3,500 - and hes made £4,000 profit off the O/P on three transactions. :T
And he may well get another trade in against the 307 from the next buyer, so he has yet another bite at the cherry.
But i'm sure the seller was "really sorry" for all the inconvenience to the O/P0

The O/P didnt get a refund, they talked in to buying yet another even more expensive car.
When you say passive aggresive, are you referring to the O/P threatening to give people a "pair of broken legs" or just his posts in general?0

Expensive way of getting a fault fixed, guess you reap what you sow 0 0

Terrible argument. He might have a forecourt full of cars to sell. All of which he is going to sell at a profit So to say "now he has three cars to sell at a profit" is wrong. He's probably got 20 but the OP is really only involved in two of them.
 Agreed:eek:

He hasn't because you are still counting the profit in the first car. That car, as you admit is now unsold.
In total, yes, he might have that but until he resells the 307 (less whatever it costs to fix) he doesn't have that money.
As above you may as well count every car on his forecourt if you are going to do that.
 You explain it below...
He isn't going to sell the car to the OP so he won't make £4000 off the OP in three transactions.
All he has to do is sell the 307 on for the same price - £3,500 - and hes made £4,000 profit off the O/P on three transactions. :T
You have just undone your own argument
That is just his business. Again, nothing to do with the OP. He might sell someone a Clio too, nothing to do with the OP.And he may well get another trade in against the 307 from the next buyer, so he has yet another bite at the cherry.
Got the car swapped. Clearly enough in it for the dealer but not what you are suggesting at all for the reasons, very clearly outlined above (helpfully by you)But i'm sure the seller was "really sorry" for all the inconvenience to the O/P
Finally you again said "talked into buying a more expensive car." The OP says he was the one who raised the issue of the Fiesta not the dealer so that is also incorrect. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
