This is the airline that happily rode a storm of bad press about their treatment of a prospective employee due to her having a brief period of mental illness. Do you think they'll give a damn about the OP's situation?

She doesn't have mental illness, look here:

And whatever this airline want to do, if you use the media it can't hurt. Regardless, I personally would never fly Emirates even if someone would pay me I would say no.

Are you out of your mind?!?!

No chap, I think that description might be better suited to yourself.

My point has gone completely over your head - Emirates are not going to care about a bit of bad press (or indeed, a lot).

Yeah ... I don't disagree with you about that ... for me Emirates is a no-no no matter what.

Common sense is sending an email to the management of Emirates, contacting the management and not bothering to speak on the phone to regular employees who can do nothing about it.

Common sense is involving the media, and I'm not talking about getting a buzzy headline in the newspaper, there are enough radio stations which would be happy to get involved in such case.

And another common sense is if you live near an airport and there is a customer service desk for the company involved, and this is not a long ride for you, then go and speak to them face to face with this letter from the doctor and ask them to get involved. That is actually something that worked for me personally.

Are these enough examples for you that can help you think a little bit outside of your box of your invaluable mighty terms and conditions?!

So you would like EK management/radio station/EK customer services to get involved.
So you also represent the case that the OP is at the mercy of people to take up the case something you have criticised me for.

Common sense will be not to waste your time with such suggestions, common sense would be (and sorry to the OP for this) buy some travel insurance and for me it will be to ignore you irrational posts from now on.

How will buying travel insurance remotely resolve this?

Though they seem overly-excited, there are some decent points lost in there. The guardian have a "consumer rights" section that are constantly getting people refunds for trivial things just by virtue of being featured on the website. While losing £630 my mean little to you, I doubt that's the case for a 71 year old cancer sufferer. Just giving up at the first hurdle isn't really necessary.
  • Jeebez help me, buy the travel insurance just after buying the tickets would be common sense, obvious if you have any yourself.

And do tell how this is a consumer rights issue and you do seem to have a lot of preconceptions in your post.

Well duh... That is physically impossible however considering this has ALREADY HAPPENED.

Name one preconception. It's a consumer rights issue because it's an issue about the rights of the consumer. While they don't actually have a legal right in this scenario, that doesn't preclude them from being featured. I've seen numerous examples on that column I mentioned where people have had an almost identical situation yet have got a free change or refund as a gesture of goodwill.

Have you never seen Watchdog? The companies involved don't actually have to do anything legally wrong to be featured in these things...

You're talking to a bully, he is not worth my comments.

No I'm not. I'm talking to a stubborn person who doesn't want to change their view and doesn't have much patience. A far cry from a bully.

Ah yes, that bastion of quality journalism.
