Help!

Hi all

I took out a student loan in 2006. I finished uni in 2009.

I have never made any repayments as I have never earned more than 15k (that was the limit back then). They wrote to me a couple of times asking me to confirm I wasn't employed, which I did.

Today I popped round to my old house (I moved in Oct 2012) as my hospital mistakenly sent my maternity notes there.

The new owner tells me that there have been lots of letters from the Student Loan Company, and bailiffs?!!!!! She said they came in a white van and demanded her to show proof that she wasn't me, so she showed them her mortgage!!

I tried to call them but they cut me off at 8pm when they closed, after being on hold for 10 mins.

I am confused - why are they sending bailiffs? I wrote to them when I moved house advising them of my new address, I've never heard anything from them and wouldn't expect to???

Bit concerned incase they have given me a CCJ or something that I don't know about... the owner says there has been lots of post for me there?

Have you retrieved all the mail that has gone to the old address or had some of it been returned to sender, address unknown etc?

Phone them back tomorrow to get some answers

In the meantime, have you checked your CR to see if there are any CCJ's recorded on it?

Here's the link for Noddle which gives you access to Call Credit file, this one is free but may not hold all the information as all 3 CRA's receive different information depending on the provider of the information

    https://www.noddle.co.uk/

Please come back to let us know how you get on, updates can help others in the same situation as well

    Good luck

It won't be the student loans company, it will be someone else. Student Loans Company repayments are collected automatically from HMRC unless you are self employed. Check your credit files from Experian, Equifax and CallCredit.
