Dealing with sitting tenants

Comments

  • They will leave after three months, we had a deal and everything is clear with that.

    .....
    Yeah, great...

But legally if they decide not to leave you can only legally evict them if you take them to court then get bailiffs in: Several months... Nothing you can do about that.

Was there a deposit, was it protected within 30 days of being paid??

Forgive me for suggesting it but you do not seem to know much about the law on being a landlord..

    Best regards
  • I know these tenants for years, and I don't expect any problems after they leave. Actually, I'm sure.

Course I don't know a lot of these things, and I explained why it is so...

    Wait ... what?

Either they're holding a gun to your head, blackmailing you or you're not cut out for this game.

Are this family are from your own cultural background? Are they known to your own family? Is your rental a complete dump that struggles to find tenants?

What are we missing here? Why are you letting these people treat you like a doormat?

    Easy you...

Not for two months, it's one month, my mistake. But if present tenants will accept my offer to stay with me for month, then the family will move as they wanted.

Why not? The family will move in the house they wanted so badly, and the present tenants will stay with me for a month and then will leave the house and also town.
  • Just want to let you know, tenants accepted my offer and they will stay with me for a month. Problem solved :)

As I mentioned I would like to sell this house, and definitely I have a lot of questions and things to discuss. Will post soon...
  • Good morning people. I want to thank you for all your answers. After all, I realized that being a landlord is not for me, neither wasn't something I wanted to be.

As I mentioned, I would like to sell my house one day. Can you please give me advices and provide some resources about selling a house in the UK. I know there are estate agents, but also I heard about some companies that buy houses for cash, like this one for example Genuine property buyers - sell house fast which I Googled. Anything you know about this kind of selling a house?

Don't use one of those companies that offer to buy your home. They'll come in and say they'll guarantee to sell your house for £X, then when it doesn't sell for £X they'll offer to buy it for a third of what it's worth. A nice wee business model for them, a big con for you.

Read this overview to buying and selling property in England:

    https://www.gov.uk/buy-sell-your-home/overview

Then get a few estate agents out to value your property.
  • In short, if I don't want to lose money I should bypass quick house sale. Thank you Pixie. I'm not in hurry.

Do the new tenants know you're planning on selling? if they wanted to live in the house so badly, the chances are they want to stay there for a long time and won't be happy if they have to move out in 6 months.
