The idea of fresh free range eggs is lovely, but the mess, the destruction of the garden, the cost of the feed & housing ...... Nope, Dont do it
Buy from a local farm instead
I must admit I'm in this camp too... my plants will be enough.. we buy local already and they are lovely..DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Decluttering / selling stuff Item 2 - wooden toy sold on Fbook for £20 and managed to grab another £3 for dropping it off even though we go straight past the door.. will put all of this towards the fuel cash pot for next month which means I will draw less money out and put that towards the loan payoff instead!
Have managed to get s0d all items on ebay today.. but did get hold of a beanbag for the other little person for £4.60.. which comes out the child benefit pennies..DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Well done on the decluttering. I enjoy the results, but hate the process
Re chickens, we'd love some, but my main worry is foxes. We once had to run outside at 2am to intervene in a cat vs fox cub scrap (the cat was winning). We don't often see them just now, but I'd worry it would attract them. Also, I already have 6 animals, with a 7th on the way. Another pre/post work chore might tip me over the edge. Luckily, our immediate neighbours have ducks and hens. All the benefits, none of the work :rotfl:
0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37

I'm definitely leaning towards a non chicken environment!

Evening DF1D,
Well done on the decluttering.. I could do with some of your motivation, the spare room looks like a bomb has hit!!
Yay to paying off over £400 this month, thats fab xxMummytogirls x0 -
Thank you MTG.. my bedroom does like a bombsite, I have soo much stuff to sell!
Swimming lessons this morning.. need to nip and get petrol and some flour - dinosaur cookies on the agenda here today.
Got to get a belfast sink at some point which I'm going to use in the garden.. it's a freebie.. just not relishing lifting it between us!!
Need to do a menu plan and the online food order..
Work to do tonight.. groan
Hope to get out somewhere tomorrow - hankering after a coastal / beach session somewhere.. feel the need to play with sand!!
Happy Saturday all!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Another decision made today.. little people have £500 each in NS&I childrens bonds.. 5 year anniversary is next January and they will have earnt about £65 interest, so I'll add £1030 to the total we 'owe' them and I'll send the form off tomorrow to withdraw the money and will pay it off the loan.. I've used up every bit of spare cash I have access to them.. so the rest of the debt will be repaid by slogging at it month after month..
Just desperate to clean the last of the original £58k so I can then focus on the additional credit card debt in the remaining period of 0% (about 12 months I reckon by then)
Feel guilty about doing it, but I am still keeping a total of what interest they would have got and asap I'll start building their pot and repay what we have used against the debt..DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I don't think you should feel guilty. We've had to use the savings we had for our three while my DH has been out of work, but it was money they didn't know they had and we intend to repay it one day, if we're in a position to do so. If not, we know it was used to keep a roof over their heads which to be honest is far more important than them being able to buy a car......or too much beer! :rotfl:
Loving your diary, you're so focused! I wish I was, but too low to be motivated right now. DH should have a job offer by the end of the week, but I can't get excited as this has been the case a few times in the 18 months he's been out of work and it's come to nothing.0 -
How spooky, we have considered doing this with our childrens' savings (similar amount too) and were talking about it earlier today.Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061
Current Debt- £3600
Mortgage Offset Savings- £600
90.5% paid off so far...0 -
Good point well made Molly.. DH said the same thing, that us paying the debt off earlier would actually give them a better quality of life long term.. plus they will grow up with parents that save for things and don't flex plastic to buy stuff anymore..
Pinkpoppies, this is the second time we have done it, I don't know how long you've been following me, but we had about £3000 that we also paid off 4-6 weeks ago, I do feel guilty, but I know it is for the greater good.
I've worked out we can be under £2k by mid April which is a massive boost and hopefully £58k debt gone by August latest.. That's 6 months away which would be awesome and will further focus and motivate me to reach the target asap..
Thanks for posting both xDFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
