  • Lovely day thank you!

Had cashback track (finally) in both mine and DH's TCB - that totals £42.99.. just need to wait for that to arrive in our bank to send that to the loan as well!

Day in and out of home has meant a few more OP surveys.. inching closer on two other survey sites to payout though they will both payout in voucher rather than hard cash!

15% off the little people's hair cuts so that cost £8.50 in all.

    Happy evening all!

  • Happy Saturday morning!

DS slept until about 5.30 so not too bad for me, before getting up with him.. Saturday is DH's day for a lie in..

Today is swimming, think it's the last one before we break for half term..

Need to do the menu plan and order the food shopping for tomorrow.

Have a stack of work to do this weekend, was going to leave it until tomorrow night, but might start some tonight

DH will hopefully start sanding the woodwork in the hall whilst we are out, and then I can start the glossing - such a difficult area to do with the kids going up and down it all day.. but then the light isn't great at night..

    That's my Saturday..

  • Oh wow loving your diary! Lots of inspiration and lovely to see even though you have debt your still doing your house when needed, you still do other things but your clearing your debt too! I'm subscribing and reading! I have downloaded YNAB off the App Store along with drop box - both free (hope they are ok) and will start my journey! I'm a newbie to the site so still finding my way round, and new to the whole debt free wannabe lifestyle! Feeling determined even more after reading your diary! Well done
  • Hi overeating-spendaholic - love the name, it could be me!

It is very much life goes on for us as we pay this debt, hence why it's taken us 8 years so far.. we've moved hours three times in that time and every house has needed total redecoration.. current house needs that again, plus a complete renovation of the kitchen, a new bathroom and a utility room to be built as well as a fourth bedroom potentially created.. Not to mention the fact the garden / concrete yard also needs a LOT of work..

I've not downloaded the app as I 'think' you need the software which isn't free, but sure you can get a 30 day free trial? Will find your diary, if you have one and subscribe!

  • Quiet day, full of little person meltdowns today - who knows what is up with her!

Went swimming, DH has sanded all the woodwork down and painted one door frame and the widest part of the hall with undercoat. Plan to get the little people out tomorrow so he can hopefully get an undercoat on it all. He also got one top coat on the shoe storage he built, so it is all coming together..

No surveys or money making today, four items to stick on a selling site tomorrow or ebay tomorrow if they don't go..

Realised today I had credit with Zulily from ages ago, haven't had much success when using that site, but credit is credit and they had gorgeous princess dresses on there today so one purchased for either birthday or Christmas and I got myself an insulated lunch bag as I'd been after one - all for the grand total of £3.89! As much as possible, want to try to do Christmas and birthdays from survey rewards this year..

Also used a bit of the ebay money I set aside each month, to buy a bag of Borax as I want to make some borax crystal stuff with the kids this week as it's Valentines' Day (just remembered I need to get DH a card!)

Trying really hard with my diet and eating habits at the mo.. so I have fruit, oats and seeds for breakfast... raw bars for lunch.. just need to get that habit cemented for a week or two and then start tackling dinner.. so I take a lot of food to work with me and seriously do not want to use the work fridge - hence the insulated lunch bag..

A night of TV - stuff work for another night.. and looking forward to my lie in tomorrow!

    Happy Saturday evening all!

  • Kinda had another lightbulb moment here today.

Whilst I include our salaries in YNAB, I hadn't been including child benefit, tax credits or £50 we get from our inlaws each month as these amounts either had a purpose or I planned to just pay them off against the loan.

Thinking about the need to 'live' whilst doing this and things that I want to regularly save towards, I just plugged all our income into next month and set up new accounts for various things.. sooooooo every month as well as paying the minimum I need to, to clear the loan by December, we are also saving:

    £20 - emergency fund
£20 - mortgage overpayment lump sum
    £50 - home improvements
    £50 - car expenses
    £10 - Christmas /birthday presents
£10 - Disneyland (hope to take the little people in 2016/17)

As always, feel stupid I've not done this before but have to credit YNAb with totally changing the way I budget and look at our money.

Plan is that anything extra that comes in will be split between all of these, with 50% probably going towards the loan payoff..

    Doh!

Hi DFOD, I think that sounds sensible, we too have been looking at the money we have and are setting up new categories like an emergency fund, Christmas/Birthdays etc.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.
  • Another £10 paid off the loan, and £5 added to the emergency fund!

  • Got to love happy tracky cashback days..£16.94 tracked and confirmed today - payout requested!! Three amounts awaited in the bank account at the mo!

Apart from that, electricity bill paid of £130 ish - based on an estimated reading.. totally non MSE, but I couldn't bring myself to check in case it was massively underestimated!
