OK so we all know countless people can't use you're and your. Don't get me started on their and they're and there.
But I have noticed, especially on the MSE forums, the creeping misuse of advice and advise. Is it really so difficult?
I'm sure these people can say the word out loud properly - I've never heard anyone say "I'd like some advise".
Not sure if I blame teachers or the advent of spell checkers that aren't sense checkers.

you're post is pointless.0

Who cares, this is a user to user help forum. Not a grammar competition.
It's pretty obvious what they mean isn't it?
Your looking way too much into this. There just people looking for advise0 -
Just part of the general decline (some would claim progress or evolution) in the English language. For those who don't notice, it doesn't matter, but it interrupts someone's concentration if they do notice. It's the difference between a CV in the bin or a CV on the interview pile.0

My advise is not to look into it two much.
Their will be people along shortly criticising you because you bought this up.0 -
What gets me is that it's not even a 50 / 50 split as you'd expect if people were just guessing which word to use. Seems to me people get it wrong about 80% of the time which suggests they're doing it deliberately. Something fishy is going on.0

This.
As I have said on the employment forum however, if I threw away every CV with even a tiny spelling/grammar error, which is my default position, I wouldn't ever actually interview anyone.0 -
I didn't even mention advices or advises.0

If I spot these sort of errors, and I probably don't every time as I tend to skim posts rather than scrutinise them, they grate. I never make a comment about them though as sod's law says I'll make a typo in it....0
