things out of your control. untidy front gardens, noisy neighbours, parking issues"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

Slightly offputting but wouldn't be a deal breaker:
North facing back garden. (Could make it work/may get some sun.)
Poor broadband connection/poor mobile phone signal. (Not a deal breaker but both would be a bit annoying.)
Lounge with stairs going out of the lounge. Not a deal breaker, but not keen, as the heat shoots up the stairs! And the cats can run upstairs and scratch the bedroom doors, and the tv and voices travel upstairs.
Not having a car port or garage. (Again, not a deal breaker, but I'd prefer one of those two, if not both.)
Deal breakers
Dated kitchen and bathroom would put me off a bit, as I would think the electrics, and heating system/boiler would probably be 25 plus years old too!
The smell of damp. (And mould all over the place. In my experience, these kind of houses cost a FORTUNE to heat.)
Shared driveway (with 2 to 5 others, like you get on post 1990 private estates.) A parking nightmare.
No parking at all.
Being on an A or B road. Or any busy road.
Being too near a school (if the house was on a road that 100s of people drive and walk down from the school.)
A loft that has been converted into an extra bedroom. (I don't want a house with no loft!)
If one of the houses either side had 4 or more children. Been there done that, and being next to a big family was an absolute nightmare; I do NOT want to go there again!!! FAR too much noise and screaming and kids out 10 hours day on the swing/slide/trampolines) But then I wouldn't go for more than a 2 bed now anyway, so this would be unlikely anyway.
Being directly opposite (or very close to directly opposite) a motorspares company/garage/petrol station/little stores/pub/takeaway etc...
Being on or close to traffic lights or a traffic island.
Being right at the bottom of a steep hill.
Being near a river, or the sea, and being less than 30 feet above it.
Being near a football ground. (Or any kind of concert venue/theatre.)Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!

Usually you have seen photos of the house so for me it's the extra bits....
The houses around the house, parking outside, the roads leading to it. Also if the EA has hidden things from photo's,like huge trees in neighbours gardens, electricity masts etc.0 -

Sometimes it can be useful - you get to ask about work they've had done, age of boiler, neigbours etc., and the time-scale they're reckoning on for moving/whether they've found their next place already. You can tell if they're someone you want to deal with, and if they're lying.0 -

Yes this is very true! I currently have an offer accepted on a house I like, have never met the vendor but in over two weeks I have been told he has personal problems, might not find a house until Spring etc. So I am viewing more houses this week and have been frank with that EA that I am going to start looking again as mine is sold and I can't risk losing my buyers.0 -
Smell! Everything else I can see 'potential' but if it smells bad it really puts me off.£2 Savers club £0/£150
1p a day £/0 -
Lack of parking and only showers/wet rooms instead of a bath.
My weirder ones are not too close to large trees in case of high winds and high enough up to not get flooded in case of extraordinary tides/tsunami (yep, the last one is def weird, can't help it I am afraid). I love a sea view but living in a town which had many deaths in 1953 and seeing the water marks in my parent's house just makes me cautious. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
My turn offs are
1) Being on a rat run
2) North facing house (not a gardener and cannot tolerate the sun for long)
3) Loads of kids
4) Lack of off road parking
5) Being miles from decent services
6) Poor broadband speedFind out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
