Hi, I enjoy them & have won on them over the years,
but have learnt to be a bit more picky/choosey
with them
last years here if you want to see what they're
all about

lots of good luckplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Thank you both! Currently looking through last yearsTrying to save up for a deposit for a mortgage....could be a while!!
Comping since 15/06/2014 - thanks to all those who post the competitions ❤️😀0 -
The thing with advents is that there are so many of them and when it kicks off it seems insane. You want to enter them all and that can mess with your head a little bit. It's the one time of year that lots of us lose our comping perspective a little bit
Everyone ends up with their own way of dealing with them because, in reality, there's just no way to enter them all. Expect a crazy first week then you'll have your head around the ones you are really interested in.
Good luck - it's not really as bad as we are making out....... just a wee bit crazy :rotfl:Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%
SEALED POT CHALLENGE MEMBER No. 428 2015 - £210.930 -
Advents are no different to any other competitions apart from the increased number that do not have real prizes (just offer discounts, free P&P, advice etc) or have prizes that are little more than free samples or something worth less than £20 - if you have the time then it doesn't matter but none of those ones are worth entering if it means passing up on the chance to win a decent prize somewhere else.0

If I'm honest, I think there's a bit of melodrama here about them.
I have been doing them for a few years now, and I enter what I want to win, and don't enter for things I don't want. Just like with any other competition.
I keep my own list of clickable links to the advents I enter (I find the bookmarks and folders too fiddly), and use that. I usually compile that list as I'm going through the main forum, and come across the advent announcements. Over time, that list will get whittled down, if the prizes aren't for me, etc, so by the end of the first week, I have a list of what to enter.
If you feel nervous about them, or stressed by them, don't enter them, and just enter things on the main board, etc as usual. No point letting a hobby become nerve-wracking0 -
I wish I was as organised as some of you guys!
I did all 300+ by thread subscriptions last year and am not doing that again!
I've made folders by putting them in order of how much I want to win, so 1 for most important, etc. I always say that I am only going to enter ones I really want but that never happens. And I never get Christmas stuff done in Nov!0 -
I just re-iterate everyone else, be selective! I won't be spending my time entering for stuff I do not really want, trying to clear as many regular comps as i can at the moment!0

I'm just as confused but looking forward to the madness! It's my first year, so I probably won't be as excited about it by the end!
Good luck to us all!2015 wins: £100 Love2Shop voucher, chocolate pizza, Books x 7, ready-to-roll icing, runner-up poem published, heart locket pendant, DVDs x 5, Boost drinks & USB mini fridge, bottle of Rioja, Carole King CD, chocolate hamper, movie goody bag :cheesy:0 -

Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
