how to clean a dishwasher

Hi, my dishwasher has started leaving loads of water marks, bits of food & all sorts all over my items Basically it has given up.
I've given the filter & that a clean but its still the same, is there anything that i can put in the draw for example to give it a clean out0 -
Have you cleaned out the 'arms'. The bits that spin round and sprinkle the water?0

Mine left grainy bits on stuff for a while and I did the same. cleaned the filter which maybe helped a bit but not for long. I also got a cocktail stick and dug out loads of bits of pepper and rice from the whirly arms and flushed them through which often did the trick. I did find running it through with a cup of vinegar helped initially but after a while it was driving me potty. I can't say I ever found a definitive answer but I have since refitted the kitchen and replaced it but that isn't really a good answer LOL. Maybe running it through with soda crystals? Since I got my new machine I have been good at rinsing my plates and scraping off every last trace of rice before I shove them in. It does feel like I wash them twice yes.0

I just had a repair man round (under warrenty) who sold me some of this

For £10, I was wondering if I'd been done, but found it on internet for £9.99.
He says its great & cleans the pipes through too.0 -
Sorry I have done a quick search but haven't quite found what I am looking for.
My dishwasher doesn't seem leave my glasses shiny any more, it's been like this for a few weeks since I washed a frying pan in there with quite a bit of olive oil in it. Glasses seem to come out a bit cloudy and you really need to rinse them under the tap (though they don't feel oily). I have tried an empty hottest-setting wash but the problem remains.
Are there any suggestions for this? Stardrops, Soda Crystals, vinegar, lemon?
Thanks for your help.....0 -
Sounds silly but have you checked your rinse aid and salt levels?I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0
-
Normally, if glasses start to go cloudy it means you are out of salt & rinse agent.
Have you topped them up recently?
As for cleaning the dishwasher - a cup filled with white vinegar & the dishwasher on the hottest setting.0 -
I know it's not very OS but I use the fairy dishwasher cleaning tabs once a month (they were on offer in Morrisons tbf, reduced from £3.99 to £1.99 as the pack was ripped, but the tabs were ok) only £1 a wash (wash once a month) and it keeps everything coming out nice even from my old dishwasher.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0

Salt and Rinse aid are topped up yes......0

if they are cloudy and your salt dispoensor is filled regularly the your regen unit is probably knackered, rinse aid will leave smears and runs on the contents if not filled up, cloudyness is hard water(which your regen unit should deal with((the salt keeps the regen crystals active)), i would be off to currys rather than call a repairman(and i spent 10 years repairing dishwashers)0
