parking near tube

  • If you are going in on a Saturday, there is no congestion charge to pay. Drive to Serle Street, WC2A and park under the big grey building on the corner. It is a Ringo covered car park and costs £19 for the whole day. I think there is one out towards the Tower for about £18 per day, but it may have changed.

If you really don't want to pay £19.90 and not worry about driving, then drive all the way in and park in the centre of town. It's just off Holborn and about five mins walk to Covent Garden. Other than that, you would need to invest a little time in going to the council websites and looking up the parking restrictions of all the stations on your line, until you get bored.

Or just pay the £2 at Newbury.

mainly afternoon saturday and anywhere in central london, it doesn't matter as I will take the tube

You can park all day on-street for free around Victoria, Westminster and Waterloo. You can also still park for free after 1:30pm in some areas of the West End (Marylebone, for example).

Coming in from the East, look at parking in the City - free after 11am on Saturday. Flat charge of £2 before that.

In fact, unless you're going to Oxford Street, Regent Street, Trafalgar Sq or Covent Garden you should be able to park for free within walking distance of wherever you are going on saturday afternoons.

Didn't a poster on page 1 say it was only £2 to park at Newbury Park tube on a Saturday? Just park there and get the central line surely?

so there is no possibility for some kind of station near A12, A13?

Yes, Newbury Park. The A12 turns into the A127.

There are no tube stations on the A12. For the A13 you would have to go to Dagenham East/Becontree/Upney but they are not directly off the A13 and I have no idea about free parking.

You would better more precise advice if you actually answered the question: what time are you travelling?

Thanks. For some reason when I replied all the posts on this page hadn't loaded, I've had problems getting on the site the last two days.

Just pay the £2 to park at Newbury Park then, it will cost you more than that in petrol trying to drive further in to London or to any of the stations along the A13.

I'm sure you must know that (a) it was a Tube station until relatively recently (and the station itself has not changed), (b) that the London Overground brand is an extension of the Tube, with interchangeable ticketing, and (c) you are just being pedantic, and it doesn't make any difference whether it's technically a tube station (whatever that means) or not.

I'd guess that there is a reason why the OP doesn't want to take the train from Basildon - otherwise, he would not have started the thread in the first place. And if it costs £20, that seems like a good reason.

Im sure you must knwo that (a) you are wrong and it opened as a functional railway using the old Thames tunnel and only became part of the (tube) sometime in the 1930s and (B) You're wrong as it is part of TfL rail division and not LUL or the (tube) as you like to call it and integrated ticketing means very little seeing how with a Travelcard all forms of transport have integrated ticketing and (c) You're wrong as you were the one who said it was a tube station when it wasnt until it got given to the Met line as part of but yes I was being pedantic proving you havent a clue what you're on about.

Yes he may not wanted to pay £20 but its surely better than driving for an hour on one of the busiest roads into London just to get free parking.
